The Principle (2014)

"The Principle" brings to light astonishing new scientific observations challenging the Copernican Principle; the foundational assumption underlying the modern scientific world view. The idea that the Earth occupies no special or favored position in the cosmos has launched the last two scientific revolutions - the Copernican Revolution and Relativity - and, as Lawrence Krauss has said, we could be on the verge of a third, with "Copernicus coming back to haunt us". Interviews with leading cosmologists are interspersed with the views of dissidents and mavericks, bringing into sharp focus the challenges and implications not only for cosmology, but for our cultural and religious view of reality.

Chat Conversation Start 7:10AM Geocentric Model/The PrincipleScientists, astrophysicists, and all those great minds that asked the big cosmological question have been put to the test. They have but two simple options: to surrender to scientific factual evidence and to acknowledge they been wrong; or to lie like sheep killing dogs. So, it is no wonder we are having such political debates filled with nonsense. Everybody is ducking the evidence in order not to be proved wrong. Yes, they are burning at the stake those that claim the geocentric model.Yet, the facts speak for itself: the Earth IS NOT MOVING. All the Universe is, but not us. Zero speed through absolute space. Earth at the Center of it all!The greatest scientific revelation, the writing on the walls of the universe tells us we are very special, extremely special, humans and Earth!

Let me start by saying that I like 'The Principle'–it's just that I don't like it for the reasons the writer and producer would prefer. In a nutshell, the movie is supposed to be an enlightening look at current science related to cosmology and the origins of the universe, calling into question the idea that Earth is not necessarily special and is not the center of the universe. As far as I'm concerned, the premise and conclusions are nonsense, but the way the information is presented gives it an air of credibility and authenticity that prove to be a valuable lesson in how pseudo-science can appear legitimate at face value.

This documentary brings a lot of ideas that will sound very exciting for Christians in general, specially for those supportive of intelligent design. Of course, every documentary is a biased "collage" of interviews, and The Principle isn't different. But the backlash for this movie was surprisingly strong and uncalled for. Of course, the scientists who gave their opinions, as well as the narrator, Kate Mulgrew, will suffer persecution for sustaining such a revolutionary hipothesys. But I cant understand how can you give such passionate statements for a documentary and say later that you had no idea about the subject of filming. The same goes for Mrs Mulgrew, who I admire a lot. A 10 for their bravery!

Geocentrism has been long disproven by everyone with a scientific point of view. This documentary is an attempt to salvage a philosophy hundreds of years after it was unarguably rebuked by observation of the real world. We have sent spacecraft to many places in the solar system, and in every case, Newton's laws of motion have predicted accurate results. Geocentrism is a hoax perpetuated by a desire for human centrality in the workings of a much larger universe. It's basis is not scientific but theological, according to a religious reckoning that even the mainline Catholic Church now rejects. This documentary is a result of people who favor their emotional desires over the hard facts of science that tell us the truth about how all bodies in orbit function. The people who made this documentary used decontextualized footage from unrelated interviews by such personalities as Lawrence Krauss, who couldn't be farther from supporting a geocentrist position. This is a fantasy that relies on disingenuously interpreting quotes from scientists who rebuke the very premise of the film. It's a disgrace to humanity that this film should even exist in this day and age. These are probably the same people who believe the moon landing and the ISS are "hoaxes." Grow up, you ignorant unscientific True Believers. We will move forward with science no matter how hard you try to backpedal against it.
