Growing up as a child of a WW II Army Air Forces B-17 Navigator and Bombardier Veteran, my dad always took us to every air field and military museum that we passed by on vacations. His actions taught his children to respect and appreciate the wonders of flight and the men and women who took great risks for this country. One Six Right is not only a tribute to military pilots, but to all pilots. The cinematography is awe-inspiring, and the brilliant young director, Brian J. Terwilliger and his amazing crew, allow the viewer to escape earth while watching this captivating movie. Reading Brian's account of how he brought this movie to fruition is amazing and very creative. Brian did not give up on his goal - to make a movie highlighting the history of the airport where he actually earned his pilot's license. One Six Right brilliantly ties the history of the Van Nuys Airport to aviation history as a whole. Every child should view this just for the wonderful history lessons contained within the movie. The movie brings the viewer to the current time era - what a wonderful trip to take! The music soundtrack is so beautiful, too. Make sure to read the end credits - very interesting. Thank you, Mr. Terwilliger - I only wish I could have shown this movie to my dad....

The cinematography, the music, and the content are truly brilliant. Having spent more than 20 years in - and retiring from - the Tower pictured in the opening sequence, I can tell you that Brian captured the true essence of his subject - Van Nuys Airport. Consistently one of the busiest airports in the nation VNY is quite often overlooked but by any standards is a true asset to the industry. Brian too, becomes a asset to all GA lovers with his remarkable rendition of life on the ground and in the sky over Southern California. This is a pioneering effort in the making of High-Definition films - flawless. The colors are spectacular and the extra features on the DVD show how the original music was composed. A must see even if you're not an 'airplane fan'.

I just watched the above on a local HD channel this past Monday night and must say what a beautiful documentary it is! I was captivated by the personal stories as well as the various pictures (both old and new) and awesome HD footage – so crisp and clear. I especially enjoyed how you would show an older picture of the airfield (for example), then fade to a newer picture which was correctly placed over the older picture. I have always enjoyed this effect and yours was truly amazing. It really offers an interesting perspective of how the airfield has grown over the years. Furthermore, kudos's to Mr. Wang for a terrific soundtrack.I have a personal connection to your film as well. Stacy Sheard, whom you interviewed while performing her duties as a medical helicopter pilot, has been performing her duties as a new helicopter delivery pilot here at Keystone Helicopter for over the past year. She is an interesting person and very well liked by all.In closing, keep up the great work and I look forward to future productions. If there is ever anything I can ever do to assist, please don't hesitate to call.Wishing you continued success!!

I just watched this film in HD at home today. There is NO better way to watch this film. The opening sequence showing the juxtaposition of historical vs current footage actually brought tears to my eyes. One Six Right brought the same emotions to me as when I flew myself to the Wright Brothers Memorial in North Carolina. The beauty and passion so many people feel about aviation is perfectly exemplified throughout the film. More than a documentary, 16 Right tells the story of general aviation in America today. There are protagonists (Van Nuys Airport), antagonists (Mayor Daley and his wife), and tragic heroes (Meigs Field in Chicago). All of that, and one thing I didn't notice right away... in a community where jargon is the modus operandi, I never heard ANY jargon. If you have never flown an airplane, visited an airport, or even watched AIRPLANE! you can still enjoy this film. 10 out of 10 for story, color, sound, and lots and lots of airplanes.
