There is a very fine line between comedy and non comedy. I for one put it on the other side of the line. It is a sensitive coming of the age and antics of a naughty and rebellious girl Hayley Mills (Mary Clancy) with her devoted girl Friday June Harding (Rachel). Once the reason of her mental frame was known, which had been hinted, (though the hint had been telling), it explains her behavior and goes away from whatever comedy part one could assign to it. It is rather heartwarming portrayal of two generations of sensitive girls, the new (Mary) and the old (Mother superior). Another brilliant performance by evergreen Russel.

Since this is my favorite film of (all-time), there are a number of wonderful aspects that I can point out to everyone. It's a film that's full of heart and soul right from the start. Mary Clancy (Hayley Mills) is a spirited teenager who has a (knack) for getting into trouble. And with her new partner in crime, Rachel Devery (June Harding) the sky is the limit. Another bright spot is 'Mother Superior' played by screen legend (Rosalind Russell). She hands her hands full with these two right from the start. (I guess it's pay-back from her days of being a misfit youth.) As the film moves along, we see why Mary Clancy acts the way she does. Her home life isn't the best around and really doesn't know how to love anyone or herself. (It's a bit like her character from the film 'The Chalk Garden' with Deborah Kerr. But not as intense as that character.) But as the film unfolds, she and Rachel learn a lot about life and friendship. And they also learn that getting into trouble never really pays off. but in the end, Mary Clancy becomes the woman that she was always meant to be. It's a wonderful film that all of you will enjoy...The Trouble with Angels.

Marcey Clancy is new at St. Francis academy for girls, while there she meets Rachel Derery. Through out the three years at the school the two girls go on a series of entertaining mischief. And become close friends. What an entertaining film this was! Hayley Mills delivers a energetic and spunky performance. One of her most entertaining roles.June Harding also brings some energy to her role as Marcey's friend Rachel. One of the thing that I love most about this film is the music score by Jerry Goldsmith. His score is up-beat and adds to the light hearted tone to the film. After watching this film who wouldn't want to be friends with Marcey and Rachel and go on their series of misadventures. I seriously recommend this timeless family film for those who want a funny and feel good film. Full of laughs and drama you will love this film just like I did.

A highly entertaining film. At times, some of the comedy is a little contrived, but overall a very well done, pleasant picture. Watch carefully for the little, well placed clues, in the movie that lead up to the surprise ending. Some very real and touching moments that will make your eyes get moist. This movie has gotten to be a Holiday Tradition with my family.Much, much better than the sequel, "Where Angels Go Trouble Follows." The sequel does not have the heart nor soul nor the realism of the original.Hailey Mills' acting is impeccable and realistic in even the most slight details. Rosalind Russell? What can one say of this legendary actress. Few actresses could pull off the combination of wit, sarcasm and compassion found in her characterization of Mother Superior.Definitely watch "The Trouble With Angels" it will become a favorite with you too.
