Before I watched it, I was not expecting a huge goal. However, it just finished and now I want to watch it again and again.I really like Björk, maybe that is why I cannot be objective. I also loved "the dancer in the dark" too much. Either she knows how to choose interesting stories for casting in or she is really lucky. This movie is much more naive than what the spoilers and reviewers said. The movie does not contain blatant thoughts and dialogs. I can only say that you should see. and I strongly recommend you to watch "Bachelorette" afterward."One day I found a big book buried deep in the ground. I opened it, but all the pages were blank And to my surprise, it started writing itself; 'One day I found a big book buried deep in the ground' "
This movie is actually interesting at parts. Although some of it will bore you. The reason it is so interesting is because its weird and Bjork acts in it. I'll give it 8/10. All I have say now is that the ending will confuse you, I sure did get confused. In fact, I am very confused about right now.
There is only one reason to see this movie, based on a Brothers Grimm tale, to see a young, beautiful Bjork in her first movie. It's Icelandic, it's somber, and it has Bjork. If you're like me and can't get enough of the Icelandic musical genius this is an important movie to see. Movie itself gets a 5, but with Bjork it gets a 10!
Katla and her little sister Margit must flee their hometown after their mother is stoned to death for witchcraft. Katla's spell to find a husband nets them a new place to live, but comes with the emnity of the new husband's son. An independent American film shot in Iceland, the Juniper Tree is a beautiful interpretation of the brothers Grimm story of the same name. Fine performances, good costumes, and stunning landscapes bring this tale to life.
