Katrina Kaif looks lovely and makes an earnest attempt in the acting department too in a film like this, that's plenty effort.Yuvvraaj uses scale and grandeur to compensate for the fractured script, but as Ghai's own films Kisna and Yaadein will tell you no amount of ambition and passion can hide poor writing. The characters are all underdeveloped - from the protagonists who have no layers, no edge whatsoever, to the supporting players who are all silly caricatures. The dialogue is a mix of clunky lines that make you cringe in embarrassment, and a bunch of unintentionally hilarious gems that will make you laugh every time you think of the film. And then there's Anil Kapoor whose character I had difficulty understanding - was he autistic, was he blind, did he have arthritis? I never did get it in the end because of the strange mannerisms and quirks Anil brought to his performance. And yet, it's the only performance in the film where some competence is visible. Ghai spares no efforts in giving Yuvvraaj a fancy feel, there's pleasing photography and spunky choreography on display, but AR Rahman's soundtrack throws up only three good tracks which is a shame considering the film's designed as a musical. Yuvvraaj doesn't quite hit the right note because it's an archaic drama that feels too tired. Barring a handful of vintage Subhash Ghai moments that still work, the film sadly is far from his best work. There was a slim chance the film might not have hurt this bad if the acting was any better, but to think the stars of this film were paid crores of rupees to put up this show makes you realise that indeed life is unfair. Salman Khan does pretty much as he pleases, walking in and out of scenes as if he were at home, never mindful of the fact that he's playing a character here and that some consistency in performance is expected of him. He just about scrapes through the comedy with a few light moments, but completely fails to touch your heart in the film's emotional scenes.

Bollywood's bad PR continues with the release of this movie.Plus Great cinematography and good music score. Beautiful locations and grand sets.Spoilers This movie is so lame! Terrible repeating of the same background music score. Bad acting by Salman and Katrina. Zalman Khan, you can't act! Katrina Kaif can only smile like a barby doll. Terrible overacting by Anil Kapoor, an autist who understands emotion. It seems like the director has thought that a consistent story doesn't count and just focus on picturizing and cast nice laughing people who overacts like idiots. Please Bollywood stop producing this kind of horror. From now on I will only watch movie of Mira Nair, Vidhu Chopra and Farhan Akhtar's.

Subhash ghai and AR rehmaan are the real hero of this movie.. all others are just pawns. My belief is getting stronger that it is Director who is hero of any gr8 movie and not good looking faces with XYZ names and brand.. look at any movie DDLJ, sholay etc. It was the music which made me feel joyful abt this movie. AR rehman is at his new height.. he is superb in all music but this is class apart again. 5th symphony in many organs with melodiuous tune. All songs were nice (except 'shanno' one).Of course singers like Shreya,Alka, Javed etc had given their best.. all songs do feel like same but they have best and different music. Go for this movie if you love music. Though story of movie was ordinary and I think only Anil kapoor acted in the film apart from others..Others were ordinary.

I saw Yuvvraj today in a theater and I cursed myself for wasting my hard-earned money on such a stupid movie. Zayed Khan cannot act. He should not be acting at all. Katrina Kaif cannot act as well, but she is much better than Zayed Khan. I was actually quite impressed and surprised by Salman Khan. He is the only saving grace of the movie. His performance was good, I cannot call it great, but reasonably good. The storytelling was choppy, the script was confusing and the character development inconsistent and incomplete. The film just jumped from one theme to another and the story didn't flow at all. Towards the end I was like looking at my watch and just waiting for the film to end. It was really a waste of time, energy and money. It was not Subhash Ghai quality at all. I wonder if Subhash Ghai even directed this film, he must have just signed his name on it. The story-telling was so lame. The only things I liked about the movie were cinematography and the songs. Gulzar once again has proved that he is the greatest song writer in India. A.R. Rahman music is quite good too.Overall, avoid this movie. If it comes on T.V. then you can watch it, but don't spend your hard-earned money on this crap!
