This is actually a good, fun low budget attempt to recapture the feel of an 80's slasher, with enjoyable results. Don't expect the reinvention of the horror film or anything approaching classic status. However it wasn't intended tone like that it seems. It is made, I believe, by people who absolutely know their slashers and so all of the ingredients are here: the tragic back story prologue which sets off someone to take their revenge, the bitchy character, the red herrings and whodunnit, the killer's costume etc etc. Therefore lovers, like me, of great 80's slashers like My Bloody Valentine, The Prowler and so, can find something enjoyable here. A little love for it from me certainly..

In the UK, and probably further afield, Kim Newman is known as an expert on the horror/slasher genre. His book 'Nightmare Movies' is a classic. And his video dungeon column in Empire magazine has pointed me in the direction of many films I would have missed. I trust his judgement implicitly.Unfortunately this month he (sort of) praised this film, although admittedly it was in comparison to another. Sorry Kim, but I didn't get the point of this film at all.It was played straight, it wasn't a parody of 80s slashers although it freely stole the clichés of movies of the era, it didn't have any twist on the subject, so why would anyone want to see a bad 80s film made in 2012? There has been a defence of this film on the basis that the victims were sympathetic and not a**holes you want to see killed. But when the acting is this bad, every character in it lived way too long for my liking.Decent whodunnit? I don't think so. You'll know early on, even though a proper whodunnit requires at least enough clues to make an educated guess.I'm giving it 2/10 only because I can never give a 1.

Well , it's not the worst slasher movie that I have seen, I seen a lot worse then this movie. This movie did have a lot of flaws, to many. too many to talk about at the mo. The main flaw was the acting, the acting just got worse and worse as the movie went on There seem some- what bloody at first but the deaths were little kinda the same. The killers mask was almost just like My Bloody Valentin, one and some scenes in this movie remind me of scream, I know what you did last summer and added bit of Prom night in there as well. Even with all these flaws , It still got me to watch until the end to find out who the killer was.I had no idea who the killer was this movie, that did surprise me. it kinda of funny really, in way. 3 out of 10 poor movie

When a group of friends get denied access to their Freshmen homecoming by a group of older students, they decide to throw their own party. However, when the football star, of the group, Billy, tries to attack one of the girls, the friends lock him up in a closet where is he accidentally killed in a fire. Three years later after two banned Homecomings, the friends are now seniors and the return of Homecoming has arrived. But someone is trying to crash the celebration. The friend's receive threatening messages in their lockers believing it's sick joke. But on Homecoming night, the friends find themselves being stalked and slayed by someone wearing a fireman's outfit. Is Billy back for revenge? And who will survive this Bloody Homecoming?Bloody Homecoming is a very fun 80s style slasher that many slasher fans (myself included) has desired. This is the film the Prom Night remake should have been. We are given a group of characters that are very funny and likable. Especially Jaclyn played by Randi Lamey, Jaclyn is the one with the sharp tongue and not afraid to step up to the plate. We are also given Wade, the lovable and funny gay character played by Branden Lee Roth. And although he is not one of the leads, we get a few comical moments from Janitor Fred played by Jim Tavare. Finally, we have our Final Girl, Loren, played by Lexi Giovagnoli. She's the kind-hearted character who's the friend to everyone. While Loren is very likable, she's really not given much to do when it comes to the final act. Along with our likable cast, we have some very nice kills and plenty of blood. To top it all off we have a couple of good chase scenes (let's face it, many slashers severely lack them these days). Bloody Homecoming resembles some classic 80s slasher films like Prom Night, Happy Birthday to Me, House on Sorority Row, and My Bloody Valentine. We have the over-the-top acting, gnarly kills, the "back for revenge" subplot, and a very hysterical final act when the killer is revealed. If you miss what a true slasher really is that is all about fun rather than just gore, Bloody Homecoming is highly recommended. My rating: 9/10
