Puppet Master vs. Demonic Toys (2004) * (out of 4) Even though both the PUPPET MASTER and DEMONIC TOYS series were from Charles Band and Full Moon Entertainment, this film itself pretty much stands on its own as it was produced by a different company and originally aired on the Sci-Fi Channel. With that said, it's still the ninth in the PUPPET MASTER series with our favorite puppets back and also the third in the TOYS series (for those who actually care). It's just days before Christmas and the grandson of Andre Toulon (Corey Feldman) is attempting to bring the puppets back to life but he must find the correct formula. Once he and his young daughter bring the puppets back, a female toy maker (Vanessa Angel) wants the secret so that her demonic toys can be released and kill millions of children. Soon the two sides are doing battle but I'm sure most viewers will be asleep by then. There's no doubt that this is an extremely bad movie that really doesn't have any of the spirit of the previous PUPPET MASTER movies. It's no secret but the series was already well dried up by the time a new company tried to deliver fresh life into so you really can't hate this film any more than the previous few. I think the biggest problem is that the screenplay is constantly going for all sorts of weird humor. I'm not certain if they thought this stuff was going to be funny or if they just wanted to do something very cheap and quick. I usually enjoy Feldman but he's pretty bad here as they've got him doing a strange accent and they have him wearing some gray in the old hair. I'm guessing they were meaning for him to be an "older" man but he certainly doesn't look it and especially with such an older daughter on hand. The actor really seems to be struggling with the part but the screenplay certainly does him no favors. Angel appears to be having a good time playing bad but she's certainly not believable at it. Silvia Suvadova isn't too bad as a police woman and Danielle Keaton isn't too bad as the daughter. Another major problem is the fact that the puppets rarely get to do anything other than sit on a shelf and look around. There's one attack sequence that contains very little blood and the big finale is just a joke without any shocks or excitement. PUPPET MASTER VS. DEMONIC TOYS is a crossover that no one really asked for and it's also one of the worst out there.

Corey Feldman stars in this film as Robert Toulon descendant of the infamous puppeteer Andre Toulon. Robert wants to cash in on the secret formula developed by Andre, by creating life-like puppet toys for children for the Christmas season. However Erica Sharpe (Vanessa Angel) head of a Toy Making Industry and Robert's former employer, also wants the secret formula. Erica is aided by the Demonic Toys in recovering the formula by any means necessary. However Robert has the help of Andre's old puppets. So the Puppets are pitted against the Demonic Toys. Who will triumph? Watch and find out.Corey Feldman and Venessa Angel put on a good performance. Danielle Keaton shines as Alex Toulon, who is always seen at Robert's side, helping him in his quest to develop the formula. The puppet effects are most disappointing. They could have at least used C.G.I. to refine the puppet animation. Also there is no war between the puppets and toys in the film, except in the ending, which is very brief. With much better effects put into this film, it would have been much better.Whose fault is this? Blame the director, script writer and special effects head-technician. These guys should rightly be given a kick in the backside.

How this sort of film ever gets made is completely beyond me. I wouldn't have minded it too much had it actually BEEN a comedy, except everything that made this film farcical was due to dreadful acting (there was much eating of scenery that fateful Christmas morn'), abysmal editing (the pit of hell as seen in this film could not have been any deeper than the depths of depravity required to edit this film so poorly), and absolutely laughable dialogues (no, not laughable "haha", this was PAINFULLY laughable). I really hate trashing a flick, especially one that was so obviously made on a (severely threadbare) shoestring budget. The puppets were great! Don't get me wrong, despite their gruesome appearance, they actually are quite likable characters. Sadly, the director and writer preferred giving that hack Corey Feldman lines! The secondary roles (as if Feldman's scenery chewing stint weren't "secondary" enough) were better, though the material they were given was so dreadful, it wasn't like they had a snowball's chance in hell. Vanessa Angel was over-the-top in her villainy, and would have been quite funny in a comedy setting. All I could think, while watching this film, was that Nikolai Sotirov, as Julian - the hapless assistant to Angel's evil toy-company mogul, got away easy when his eyes were popped out of his head by the evil jack-in-the-box demon. Oh, were we - the helpless audience - only so lucky.Whatever you do, watch this film at your own peril. THIS is truly dreadful film making.

I am the one who is weird. I want to get prepared for Black Devil Doll, so I am immersing myself in classic doll/puppet stories starting with this one.First, you have Corey Feldman (Gremlins, The Lost Boys) as the mad scientist type trying to find his great great Uncle's formula, his cute daughter, Danielle Keaton ("Beverly Hills, 90210", Pinocchio's Revenge), assists. Add the evil corporate CEO, Vanessa Angel, with her demon partner Bael (Anton Falk), and you have the makings of a good story - especially when they squeeze the blood out of the virgin to bring Bael to life.OK, it has the usual cheesy dialog, but watching Feldman wasn't a total waste. He did save the world and get the girl (Silvia Suvadova).
