The Haunting of Pearson Place is one of those movies that makes you remember why we go to the movie theater. This movie was scary, funny and so much fun that I didn't want it to end.The cast was pretty awesome, Regen Wilson just chews up the scenery and you can't take your eyes off Julie Price...they both have "Star" written all over them. Ken Arnold and Tracy Teague were strong and so real that I felt like I knew these people...and I think I just might have a few friends that are them.Joe Estevez (Yes, Charlie Sheens Uncle) was wonderful (and is sinfully under-rated) as Bob the care-taker. He really drew me in. A real creep show that guy. And last but far from least, Scream Queen Suzi Lorraine was the topping to an already well iced cake...she was great as always. One thing that really comes across is the beauty of the film. For a Horror film its just so well shot, at times it feels as if you're in a painting. The Haunting of Pearson Place is well acted, directed and wonderfully shot. Frankly, if most "horror" films (This one's classified as a "supernatural thriller/horror, with comedic elements") were more like Pearson Place I would watch more of them. A lot more of them. And I should note, that as a certified fan of "Arthouse" films, I wasn't expecting much from the film when I was invited to watch it by a friend. To my surprise I was treated to a well crafted film. Kudos to all.7.5 Stars for a well crafted film, and an additional star for not taking the cheap and easy way out like so many films. 8.5 stars. (rounded up)The story and direction were great, Michael Merino is a solid writer and crafted director. I look forward to seeing what he comes up with next.

I caught this movie was playing at the World Indie and Music Film Festival in August, 2012 and I was thinking "Okay, another haunted house" flick with a bunch weird stuff going down. And that's not exactly what I got, what I got was way better. This flick makes you think, and it freaks you out at the same time. It adds some humor and a little TnA, plus a bit of gore and blood but nothing so gross you couldn't watch it with your wife or GF...or even you Mom and Dad!.I was looking through the credits and I saw a few faces I recognized, like Joe Estevez...who rocks! I've seen him in a few killer films. And let me tell you he was awesome in The Haunting of Pearsons Place. He was a total creeper. And Suzi Lorraine, that woman is smokin and creepy, A horror fans dream. The lead guy Ken Arnold is really solid, and the other male actor Regan Wilson is mess (In an awesome way!) The dude that plays Jim the repairman is intense and really great as well. And since this is a horror/psychological thriller, there are hot women in here as well. Julie Price as Katherine is over the top awesome, and Tracy Teague plays a great bit*h! See's not hard on the eyes either. This is one of the best films I've seen all year, and I'm giving it 9 stars (room for improvement on those CGI effects) because I was so impressed. Great writing, acting and direction. Plus it was pretty to look at as well.Check this film out, you won't get a lot of blood, guts and torture horror porn. But you will get a brain f**k!

The other night I was invited to the private screening of The Haunting of Pearson place, and was asked to please review the movie on IMDb by the DIrector. I've never written a review, so here goes nothing as they say!I really like the film, it wasn't as bloody or gory as I was hoping (I'm a big fan of the SAW series) but over all the film was rock solid. I also like a little more TnA...but that's just me...Horror films generally mean, bad acting and some nudity. This film had great acting, and the story was real solid. The actors were also a bit older than you'd see in horror movies...they were in their 30's and up. But I recommend the film because its freaky, weird and funny. It was also beautifully shot, and as a hobby photographer I was really impressed with it's composition and style. The D/P and Director seem to work really well together.Over all a really solid film, with less kills and nudity than a horror film, but smart and it makes you think about what's going to happen rather than showing you.

This was a very well thought out and original film, first one must understand that this is a Psychological Thriller like THE SHINING. The Divine Comedy is used as this films basis as to one is a prisoner in purgatory or the different levels of hell for their earthly vices consisting of the seven deadly sins. Therefore in Lehman's terms if you indulged in lustful deeds during your life, you will be surrounded by unwanted lust for all eternity. This is a movie that gets better the more times you watch it, every time you pick up something new, a clue of shorts to tell the story of Pearson Place. Whether its a journal, a photo, or a set of keys, foreshadowing is inserted to the mind of the viewer. Furthermore when a new clue is discovered in a follow up viewing you're saying to yourself, "isn't that smart, alright I get it." What I liked mostly about this film is the "ghosts" are in human form, unlike other thrillers where the ghosts are mutilated, don't speak, glow a specific color and float. The ghosts in this film are physically attractive and walk around like they're amongst the living. Very good movie to turn out the lights, make a big bowl of popcorn and get out the trusted security blanket, you may need to cover up for certain parts.
