In the UK we have a publishing house called Mills & Boon who specialise in romance novels. These books are not long about 230 pages and does what it says on the tin!! It is about the meeting and falling in love of two people and the obstacles they face along the way. Now if you have read any of these books you WILL appreciate Diamond Girl. I am not ashamed to say that my wife and I have read a number of Mills and Boon and this film is a good tribute to those books. The story was simple and the chemistry between the actors was there and I think Jonathan Cake is a classic Mills & Boon man. I enjoyed this film immensely and I am very happy to say that I have it as part of my DVD collection and when I need to some light entertainment to get me through an hour and a Half I will happily turn to the film Diamond Girl.

Not only is Jonathan Cake one of the hottest men, but he is a excellent actor. The chemistry between Joely Collins and Cake is hot and romantic. I personally love Harlequin romance novels and this movie is the answer to my prayers. I have always hoped that they would start making movies to these books, and now they have. Regan Montana is this movie is complex, sexy, charismatic, and anything you could want in a man. The movie is interesting seeing the romance that starts between Claire and Regan. The switch of couples in the end was the perfect touch to unite Reagan and Claire at last. It is also so funny to see Regan running from the things he loves, but when his brother makes him realize his true feelings Regan begs Claire to spend the rest of her life with him.

I, like one of the previous reviewers, caught this movie on WE. I was only able to see the second half. What I saw made me want to buy the video. I had to wait til it aired again on WE. It was worth it. The movie makes little sense. But this is typical of most human relationships in our modern world. Dissecting the movie is a waste of effort. But the emotion that is stirred in the viewer is something else. One just feels good viewing this movie. Maybe that is the essence of paperback romance novels of today. One simply feels an uplift while reading them. Going any deeper destroys the ambiance.

What this is a bad movie. Well, when you start with a Diana Palmer novel it is hard to imagine that the result would be any different. While Joley Collins and Kevin Otto manage to rise above it and give reasonable performances, Jonathan Cake is out of his element. He is even more stiff and uncomfortable than his character calls for him to be. Although, he does manage a credible North American Accent.Young Blair Slater also manages to be appealing despite the script. Do yourself a favor and let me be the judge. It's not worth your time to find out if I am right or not.
