OK. I watched this and Suing the Devil over the last few days. I was looking for something really interesting, but in the end, both these films by the same director have a flavour of religion in them, which, for me, does not impress. It's pretty obvious Chen is a believer, so my research confirms.Acting: terrible. Music: disastrous. Destroyed any points to be made. But can we solve the world's problem? Some interesting questions within the appalling acting. Who am I? A very important question. Does it solve the problems? It can, but you need a driver to encourage this. What stops us from always looking at self? it's amazing not one 'genius' brought this up, even Chen to omit it in the script. Money. Money is the most oppressive measure that stop from understanding who we are. If we valued the quality of people, and not think to give it a price, we would always want to create the best, not the worst for the highest price. Time and resources are scarce, but what we can do with them is abundant. Money doesn't and can' represent people or wealth. Only what people create does. Money owns people, so give it up and own yourself.I could expound here, but to not bring up money in this films totally inept, considering the object matter. Believing in God is not going to solve the world's problem. Knowing you are a god is far more valuable for you to know. it's true, so get used to it, and act like one.

This is hands down one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen. The person who wrote this apparently thought that by telling the audience (this movie is all tell, no show) that their characters were smart, they could trick the audience into thinking that what the characters were saying was smart. No dice. This thing actually pulled out debunked "science" from A 90'S CHAIN EMAIL as "proof" of God's existence. Every single philosophical argument the writer thinks was a "zinger" is drenched in failure, and all of them have been refuted thousands of times by much smarter people than the ones portrayed in this film. And that's just the bad dialogue. Add to that the premise that the destruction of Washington DC would, in this movie's mind, be LITERALLY THE WORST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED IN THE HISTORY OF EVER (tell that to Hiroshima or the victims of the holocaust), the fact that, at the end of the movie, EXACTLY NO PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN SOLVED, a "twist" ending that not only makes no sense, but makes the preceding film A THOUSAND TIMES WORSE, and you have a truly awful, insulting, and worthless film. I wouldn't even recommend this to fans of bad movies, it's that bad. Do yourself a favor and skip this pile of fail.

After watching this film one thing I was left with was a feeling of tremendous euphoria, a glowing feeling which lasted well into the next morning. I could not help but think that this collage of events in the lives of 7 genius people in winter DC was realism. Not the harsh gritty realism of 'Taxi Driver', but a different realism. This movie is who we are, as people. This movie chronicles the emotions we may have when confronted with a persistent terrorist who actually understands the world's problems. And the acerbic intelligence of the script is tempered with director Altman's stunning technical virtuosity. The style is very pastiche, and one scene cuts to another, as the title suggests, with reckless abandon. This lends a very fresh and watchable quality to what is by any standards a long film.

Ah, Genius Club. I still love this film... I could talk about the top-notch dialogue of the time and the inclusion of Tom Sizemore and Jack Scalia, who performed their roles incredibly well...I guess I just did...but I think there's something else about this film that needs mentioning.Genius Club is an incredibly uplifting film. In a day when a lot of movies are chilling visions of the world around us, we need something to show us hope. Genius Club paints a beautiful picture of kindness, friendship, love, and sacrifice that never fails to inspire me. I am not a man given to displays of emotion, really...but the film makes me laugh and cry throughout everything. And the soundtrack certainly helps. It is a textbook example of the proper use of a soundtrack to emphasize the plot and emotion. The beautiful "I Will Lift up" remains one of my absolute favorite songs. I can never listen to the soundtrack without seeing the movie happening again before my eyes.
