You arrive at a secret location at a precise time, prompted by a mysterious email. You must follow the instructions closely. Once inside, disturbing visions begin. Unspeakable acts befall you—often frightening, sometimes sensual, possibly painful—each stimulating your deepest fears. And when it's over, you are changed, abandoned, and left wondering what is real and what was merely a game.

THE BLACKOUT EXPERIMENTS is a ridiculously poor attempt at an indie horror film, with a twist that it's done for real as a faux documentary. The format follows a bunch of people as they endure some of the lamest and silliest 'torture' ever put on film, while the viewer looks on. There's no horror content here, just endless talking head footage and a very slow pace. Why waste your time? You'd be better off watching a 'normal' horror film instead.

This is one of those films that you either hate or took part in making it. The film was neither scary nor shocking but most of it was black and white. People pay to submerge themselves in a tailored made frightening experience and become addicted to it. They make people get naked, watch films, be in the dark, a box, and put their hand over their face. Half the film is people talking in the abstract about their experience. Real torture is sitting through it.Guide: F-word, nudity.

The so called documentary feels fake and is boring. When something does happen it's way too dark and shaky to see anything interesting. None of the subjects felt compelling or real and lack motivation. This movie takes itself way too serious. The only redeeming factor is that is shot somewhat nicely.Oh and that 'secret' survivor group that's willing to be on camera, come on...

The film is very well made. This director knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat and take you deep into the minds of the people involved in the documentary. I happen to know about the haunt, so the film didn't really scare me, but if you haven't heard of Blackout, just watch the movie and you will be shocked. It is 100% real, and the documentary is very well made. The surprising thing about the documentary, isn't even necessarily the few glimpses that you see of the haunt. It is the people who go through it and let it become and addiction... basically an obsession. Blackout really knows how to get into people's heads. They are very good at it! I loved it!
