Imagine if you will; an alien spacecraft explodes sending debris to earth which collides with a ship sinking it...plus leaving an object on the sea floor that seeps mysterious crystals. Where else could this happen but in the Bermuda Triange. Some years later an undersea oceanic research station is built where oceanographers Mike Olsten(Corin Nemic)and his wife Linda(Vanessa Angel)discover that something is attracting various species of sharks to the location. A Navy submarine captained by Corbin Bernsen comes to the rescue when the space crystals cause the raging sharks to frenzy with a more than normal voracious appetite for human flesh. Other players in this creature feature: Elise Muller, Simone Levin, Binky van Bilderbeek and Jonas Talkington.

In just about every way that you can think of, RAGING SHARKS utterly fails. I'll start by listing all the positive stuff I can think of. For a quickie shot in eastern Europe, the sets they build for the underwater laboratory and the nuclear sub weren't bad. And I did get a good laugh when one character in the sub says "Captain, we have a problem" in a passive voice while the sub he's in is blowing up. And that's all I can think of that was positive about my experience watching this loser. The shark attacks aren't very bloody and are filmed in a way that's hard to make out what's happening (probably to mask that the shark they use is made of rubber.) The movie is filled with stock footage, and the plot eventually comes to a crawl, with a lot of the movie still left to run. Incredibly, the last third of the movie, despite the title, is pretty much shark free! To top things off, the movie ends with a deus ex machina resolution that will leave you feeling cheated, even though the device used was introduced in the (pretty incomprehensible) beginning of the movie. If you get your hands on a copy, send it down to Davy Jones' locker!

To be fair, I didn't watch this entire fiasco. I missed the beginning, which would have detailed some type of alien cylinder that is placed in the ocean, one that drives sharks into a feeding frenzy. One that apparently also provides them with super powers, like the ability to growl while they are under water. But this missing piece only increased my appreciation for the horror that is RAGING SHARKS. Finally, a Sci Fi Channel acquisition that was so bad, so incompetent, that it descends into the realm of the ludicrous. This movie is Ed Wood bad. It's startlingly, stunningly bad, even by Sci Fi Channel standards. My favorite exchange occurs when the hull of the sub/underwater station is compromised. There are explosions. There are fireballs. People run screaming this way and that. Water rushes into the structure. Pipes and walls burst. Then, Corbin Bernsen gets on the radio, looking rather dapper in the command set that he never leaves (like Basil Rathbone in an old Roger Corman movie), and puts out a desperate inquiry: "How long will it take to repair?" "About 15 minutes," comes the answer.Or did I just dream this sequence? It's one of those movies where you can zone out for 5 or 10 minutes and miss absolutely nothing. At least he doesn't scream every line of dialog like many of the actors (who appear to have been plucked from a high school play). To be fair, it's probably not their faults. Many are shot in close up and appear to be acting in completely different scenes, even when they're having interactions. It adds to the insane charm of the piece, which is why I gave it a 2 star rating instead of a 0.Great sets, though. A pity they were wasted on such an abominable piece of work.

Hey, this was a good movie for some quick acion thrills. Why people rated it so low is beyond me. I thought it was good. It had aliens and sharks and an under water lab. I liked how the people in the lab went crazy and started fighting with each other on top of the problems with the sharks and submarine. It was funny to see them swearing at each other and how the chain of command was quite rusty, ha ha ha ha. Maybe people wanted more nudity from the girls and that would of been cool, because sex never goes out of style. But this movie was an OK ride, kinda like a resident evil game. I had fun and thats all that mattered! I recommend!Rob the movie man out!!! :-)
