Documentary about 82-year-old bachelor Vig, who has never known love, and Sister Amvrosija, a young Russian nun, who by chance becomes part of his life. 50 years ago Vig bought Hesbjerg Castle, in the Danish countryside, with the intention of turning it into a monastery. Now he is about to realise his dream, with a group of Russian Orthodox nuns on their way. But the nuns have plans of their own, and Vig must realise that the road to fulfilment is different from that which he had imagined.

Director Leslie Woodhead recalls his experiences as a 19-year-old National Serviceman in the late 1950s when he was recruited for secret Russian language training. In 1974, a teenage newspaper heiress and Berkeley undergrad was kidnapped at gunpoint from her apartment, setting off one of the most bizarre episodes in recent American history.
