The story builds up steadily, paced normally presenting the conflict one after another in succession. Based on a true story, the movie's presentation doesn't really disappoint. I think that this movie was able to be more than the usual type of Christian movie, which are prone to have medium to bad acting level. It's because that besides having a very touching and inspiring story to tell, the acting level is not entirely bad, especially on the children casts' part. As the main focus character, Tanner Maguire did okay to maintain te aura of faith by keeping up his smiles in an adequate dose. Bailee Madison gives this movie a sweeter feel with her performance. What's kind of strange for me is that for the most part this movie kind of downplayed the seriousness level of having cancer or having a loved one with cancer. But then again, this movie can deliver the touching story so fine that it inspired an Indonesian movie "Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan", literally translating to Small Letters To God, which had less Christian theme and, on the contrary, gets very sad.

I do not care that this is a Christian film, it makes no difference whatsoever to the brilliant cinematography and narrative. This film is full of warmth, sadness and explores true emotion. It touches the heart in a way that anyone of any religion (or none at all) can enjoy thoroughly. I am not religious, and I was sceptical at first, but I found that this film explores so much more than religion in ways that I never would have expected. The emphasis on devotion to family is something that should be cherished by all people and this film delivers the true meaning of love and loss, and the fluctuating path life often takes. I found the characters easy to relate to and it opened my eyes to the blessings in my own life.

This movie was about a courageous young boy who had cancer. He wrote prayers in the form of letters to God. His faith moved those around him, including a mailman who had troubles of his own.At first, I didn't know what to expect. The movie was a whole lot more than I expected it to be; I laughed, cried, and thought about my life-style here on this earth. To be honest, it takes a lot for me to cry because I am such a strong-willed person, but I did.Sometimes the stress levels for me can become so high that I feel like resorting to other things besides God, but I know those other things are not the answer to my problems; God is my answer. Prayer works. You just have to have faith as small as a mustard seed. Those of you who are not Christians, watch the movie with an open mind, and debunk the myths you were told about Christianity.
