Drona (2008)

Well I would like to keep it simple and easy. The movie was a blow to AB's career and it is a good thing Shiny Ahuja declined the villain's role. Smart move there mate. The movie revolves around a very 1 dimensional character Adi who is suppressed by his cruel aunt and her son, wow what an original bunch of characters. To top that off the villain is a complete douche bag with terrible acting not to mention the stupid costumes and the stupid names of almost all the characters make you wish you didn't have eyes to see and ears to hear. The soundtrack of the movie and some initial scenes closely resemble Harry Potter and the dementors how can we forget the Indian dementors,To top everything off the most retarded character is then introduced, enter Sonia. Oh wait sorry that character is not the most stupidest I totally forgot about those moronic puppets which are suppose to be scary?The complete ease at how these "dementors" find the hiding place of the supposed guardians of Drona is a concrete evidence that the storyline was thought out while the writer was taking a dump.Rani Jayati as always was good in her acting but wasn't that much of an influence on the movie to save it. What you gonna do when every other character is trying their best to show how bad they can act.Well I wouldn't like to discuss the end of the story but if you would like to see a movie full of idiotic scenes, bad acting, stupid costumes, mind numbing plots do watch this movie and if your day wasn't bad enough this movie will surely destroy it.

This movie should come with a free shirt that says "I survived Drona". It's a movie about a random guy in the modern world who finds out he has ancient powers. So he embarks on a magical journey of self-discovery to fight the bad guy with a stupid haircut and overcome his fear of water. Honestly, 1 star is way too generous. Bollywood was able to create its first F-grade movie with a trash story, weird songs, unoriginal costumes (including a cameo with Naseeruddin Shah wearing a store-bought LOTR Gandalf costume), and unnecessary special effects. If you don't believe me, please read every other review of this movie. You don't gain anything from watching this film, other than the chance to feel your brain cells slowly rotting away.

Finally a Bollywood that does not waste your time with some silly love story! The storyline is not too spectacular, but still original enough to form a good movie. Not all the visual effects are very spectacular too, but a lot of them do come out very good. Does not waste your time too much on the past events, just enough to fill you in on the story.I hated the music scenes that keep interrupting the movie. As soon as I am into the movie following the events, some musical event disrupts everything. I guess you must expect that from every Bollywood movie.Priyanka was amazing in this movie. I usually don't care about Bollywood actors/actresses, but I guess this is an exception. Her costume design was also excellent. She looked great! The Demon guy was a bit silly, but what else do you expect a demon to look like? The hero was not your typical Bollywood hero, but a sensitive guy trying to make it in the world. The secret city looked fake, but very imaginative characters and costumes. I loved the whole train scene.I am no Bollywood fan, but with this movie, I guess there is hope for Bollywood after all.

Looking at the rating & reviews given for this movie ..... i had to say we people are getting a bit too harsh here. I don't watch a lot of bollywood flicks , 'cause at most of the times, they really not just let you down, but kills you to very extent.But to be honest (though i was bored at moments) all in all I liked the movie. It definitely isn't going to be a classic, but it was the kind of movie which u say is worth seeing one time or must see one time (shouldn't get carried away).A lot of flaws, i had to admit , but concept .... , priyanka ....( as always ), and KK were awesoooooome . What i really liked abut the movie, it was focused and did not wasted any time on characters like Drona's father (they could have shown his whole story just like any other bolly movie), did not waste much time in romance (it was just enough , just like Hollywood i.e. a pinch of it ) , and strangely !!!!!!!! only the very first song was annoying .Script was OK , a few dialog's were great , visual effects were crappy but priyanka and abhishek were good. There expressions were right just abut every time.I had to say movie was way ahead of it's times, that's the reason why it wasn't a big success, most of generation, happy with same old romantic saga or (copied from Hollywood) action sequence thrillers just couldn't have got the movie. i appreciate and definitely would suggest readers to rent the DVD and watch it at home.For me it's 7/10 .
