As always, I find myself baffled and near disgusted by the ratings here. True, Temple isn't a masterpiece, nor does it present itself assuming to be one. So what, any film that isn't a masterpiece deserves below 5? Do people who rate here know half a thing about Horror? Well, I do, which is far from saying I'm an expert, but after watching over 200 Horror films I can say that knowing half a thing about the genre is an achievement I've managed to unlock. Temple is not half as bad as the ratings make it seem.In a sense, Temple is a truly artistic and innovating effort by Horror fans for Horror fans. It takes the classic Asian ghost stories and attempts to combine them with many features of Hollywood slashers. The plot, the atmosphere, even the language is half English and half Japanese. So yes, it could have been done better, but most first attempts at innovation fail to conquer the top. Still, this collision of Asian and Slasher has created an interesting, compelling and at times quite scary result. The story is okay-ish. The pretty girl (who also acts rather well) goes on a field trip to study Japanese temples with her bashful and timid best friend (male, of course) and her stereotypically douchebag boyfriend. Is the love triangle surprising? No. Was it necessary? Absolutely not. And yet, it added some spice. The temple, as we soon find out, is guarded by a vengeful spirit. Cliché? Yes, but not only bad things become cliché over time. This film is a living breathing Easter egg for Horror fans. The ominous warnings not to go near the temple, the love triangle, the painfully stereotypical characters - all distinct features of Slashers; then, the terrifying spirit, the uncomfortable use of child characters, the sense of truly being haunted in and off screen - all distinct features of Asian Ghost Stories. Personally? I found it very rewarding. In summary - not a masterpiece, yet deserves way more credit than given here. Any Horror fan would find at least certain parts worth watching and have an overall enjoyable experience, in my opinion. Others would simply enjoy a fun, well made somewhat scary film to watch alone at night. Seriously, ignore all ratings and reviews, including mine. Give any film that catches your eye a test and a chance. Better to waste a few hours in life than miss out on a subjective gem.

BAD BAD BAD all I can say. It is a bad remake of the Blair witch Project which made b.t.w. also no sense, But when someone wants it and like it, then get it. Brain dead peoples are all over the world and for the dumb ones, congrats.

Expect around 15 mins of action/"scary things" to happen in this film - the rest is boring and mostly meaninglessIt's a beautiful scenery but that's the only good thing, I have to say about this movie. And omg... There wasn't a boy???? I could have told you that the first time we met him in the store...

I love this movie! I don't really see what the negative reviewers are talking about, but I think that using Japanese folklore and the Japanese countryside to instill terror is an excellent idea! I was terrified for the three Americans, and I thought that something wasn't right about that little boy right from the moment I saw him! So when I saw that he was one of the kids that disappeared, I realized that he was a ghost!
