Camp X-Ray (2014) Guantanamo Bay, No easy place to portray. Kristen Stewart shows through her stiff, solemn style, One person makes a difference. Though that may be true, Characters remain distant, Forgettable, slow, Lost potential, I advise fast forward to final scene. (Somonka is a Japanese form of poetry that is essentially two tankas, the second stanza a response to the first. Each stanza follows a 5-7-5-7-7 syllable pattern. Traditionally, each is a love letter. This form usually demands two authors, but it is possible to have a poet take on two personas. My take will be a love letter to a film?) #Somonka #PoemReview

Peyman Moaadi and Kristen Stewart give phenomenal performances. The story is well written. This is a really well done case study of the inner turmoil and complicated relationship between detainee and guard. I was sucked in almost immediately and couldn't turn away. The writing, the directing, the acting are all top notch.I probably could have done without the boat scene. It did serve a purpose but not enough that I would have left it in. It kind of seemed almost out of place. Like it belonged in Jarheads. The best compliment I can give a movie is that it left me wanting to go back to the beginning and watch it all again, and I did.

A young soldier escapes her suffocating small town by joining the military, only to find that she isn't going for a tour of duty in Iraq as she hoped. Instead, she's sent to Guantanamo. Met with hatred and abuse from the men in her charge, she forges an odd friendship with a young man who has been imprisoned at Gitmo for eight years. Camp X-Ray is one of those movies that tries to tell a different story and doesn't have war in it or gun shooting in fact is about a woman named Cole played by Stewart and a man called Ali played by Maadi and these 2 characters form a friendship together and she sends him the books of Harry Potter in order for him to read them. Camp X-Ray is pretty intense, lovely and very sad film that shows that not every men or women or even soldiers are the monsters that you might think.

You will most likely have the plot laid out in your head 5 minutes into the film. I thought "there's no way it follow such a worn out, unrealistic, unoriginal formula", boy was I wrong. One of those films where you're laughing at performances, laughing as friends just turn it into a game of guessing the next lazy, typical, unimaginative direction the story will take, and laughing at how the writers are obviously trust fund babies who haven't left Manhattan in their lives. I've never seen any of the Twilight films, but I now understand why people criticize Kristen Stewart, she brought nothing to her character. She did manage to add to the struggle female soldiers encounter in trying to be viewed as equals. Spend the 2 hours volunteering at Vet's hospital, don't patronize garbage like this.
