... just how much Topher Grace can you take at one time? I do not ask this question lightly. If you run Topher through the IMDb filter, you will find that this is the #1 film he is "known for." Which makes sense because here he is the co-producer, the co-writer, the star, and he has the most screen time.It is almost but not quite a vanity project (see for example how Will Smith wrapped his son up in the Karate Kid redux) and frankly those seldom end well.Personally I think the IMDb rating tells the story better than I can.The reviews are simply not that positive. In other words, Topher is no Ferris Bueller. His odd screen persona, he is sort of a nerd who not only seems uncomfortable in his own character, he makes the audience uncomfortable as well, does not endear itself to you the longer you watch.

Recent MIT grad Matt Franklin (Topher Grace) should be working for a Fortune 500 company and starting his upward climb to full-fledged yuppie-hood. Instead, the direction less 23-year-old confounds family and friends by taking a part-time job behind the counter of a video store at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. But Matt's silent protest against maturity comes to a screeching halt once his unrequited high school crush, Tori Frederking (Teresa Palmer), walks into the store. When she invites him to an epic, end-of-summer party, Matt thinks he finally might have a chance with the girl of his dreams. With his cynical twin sister Wendy (Anna Faris) and best friend Barry (Dan Fogler), Matt embarks on a once-in-a-lifetime evening. From stealing a car to a marriage proposal to an indescribable, no-holds-barred dance-off, these friends share experiences that will change the course of their lives on one unforgettable night in the Go-Go 80s

I am seriously confused by the amazing reviews for this piece. It's alright, but it's not that great. The leads have good chemistry, but everyone else in this film is incredibly unlikable. Also, the 'fat vulgar goofy sidekick' trope really needs to die. I'm so sick of seeing it in movies - it's cheap. It's pretty average. The first time I tried to watch it, it was on an airplane and it was so terrible to me that I didn't bother to finish it. This was on a 12 hour flight, so that says a lot.I just tried to watch it again and it's tolerable but that's about it. It's entertainment if you're bored but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Take me Home Tonight - TRASH IT (D) No story, no screen play and no comedy, Take me Home tonight is indeed one of the worst Coming of Age movie ever. Topher Grace is one of the annoying actors we've who plays the same idiotic geeky guy, who ends up with the most beautiful girl whether it's his "That 70's Show" or any movie he previously appeared in. Anna Farris was completely wasted in unfunny role. Chris Pratt impressed me, he was the only good thing & Teresa Palmer was the only beautiful thing in the movie. Teresa Palmer was amazing in Aussie thriller "Restraint" it's sad that she never got a good role so far in Hollywood. Dan Fogler was annoying as he was supposed to be a fat annoying wannabe prick. On the whole, it's tedious and tried very hard to make it funny, which didn't work at least for me.
