Well, I think they went to the well to many times with this one. They have bled this series dry. The first Paranormal Activity was fresh and new. The second went to an alternate family. The third was back story so where do they go from there?Part four picks up where part two left off--meaning some years after Hunter was kidnapped. It's just a little stale now. Everywhere this specter goes there are cameras set up and the entity has the same M.O. It slowly introduces itself with some odd but mostly explainable events then gradually steps up his scare game. Just once I want a ghost/spirit/demon to just come with it from the beginning. I know that makes for a quick movie, but just bring the noise right away. If that's murder, if it's possession--whatever it happens to be, just come with it.The movie follows a very predictable pattern until the end, which is also very predictable. If you've seen one you've seen them all and that's too bad.

This movie disappointed me in every category, scares 0/10, plot 1/10 barely, finale 1/10 barely, kills 1/10 kills are extremely cheesy and there was only one kill the movie barely made it. It wasn't even laughable, this movie was just sad. Avoid at every cost. It is so bad it wouldn't even be good as a comedy. This movie was a huge let down. Whoever thought this was a good idea does not know how to write a story or even a script. This would be disappointing to even see on the Sy-Fy channel. This movie is worst that the big foot movie with Alice Cooper, now that's saying something. This movie is comparable to Sharkaroid vs Bermuda tentacles. I hated this movie so much.... i cannot stress this enough do not see this pile of crud movie, i feel bad for the people that payed money to see it in the theaters.

You have to be scared of your own shadow to be scared of your own shadow to be scared off this movie. Most of it is just bad actors screaming in the dark. Good special effects but by the time you see something there is less then a minute left. The story line is awful. The ending is awful. In the 80's and 90's They made horror movies really scary. Now they just make horror movie to scary people who are scared of there own shadow. There a lot of horror movies from the 79's that are scary. The early exorcist movies are very scary. The late exorcist movies are scarier. Those are best of the new horror movies. But to many horror movie made now a days that are just made scary people you are scared of there own shadow this movie not scary it is very lame.

And so here we have the latest installment of the Paranormal Activity series, but unfortunately, this fourth one isn't as good as the other three. With this latest film we have fast-forwarded 5 years from the events that happened in Paranormal Activity 2 (this 4th film isn't a direct sequel to the 3rd movie) and we see what has become of baby Hunter and his "adopted" mother. Now, while there are some genuinely creepy moments in this film, they are actually quite lacking as they didn't have the same effect and punch as the scares in the other three movies. In saying that, however, I was pretty impressed with the scenes that involved the X-Box Kinect receiver during night-vision, and you actually got some of the best scares during those scenes as well I felt. Also, there's a pretty good (if somewhat slightly confusing) wee twist towards the end as well. The characters in the movie are all done pretty well, but they do get a bit annoying at times (some more than others), but one of the better characters was that of Robbie (played creepily by Brady Allen). Upon first viewing of him you have a kind of "poor wee misunderstood soul" feeling towards him, but that most definitely changes as the movie goes on. Katie was also much more creepy (and vicious) in this movie as well than any of the other installments. So, overall while I wasn't TOO disappointed with this latest installment, I think it could have been done better. It's still worth watching though, especially if you like the Paranormal Activity films.
