TO MAKE US LAUGH! There doesn't need to be any deeper messages or symbolism. This movie made me laugh harder than any other movie I've seen, and the humor was consistent throughout. Who cares if it wasn't "artistic" in a sense? That's not the goal. The purpose of the movie is to make us laugh at stupid stuff, and the cast went far and beyond that purpose. Dave Franco takes this movie to a whole new level, he plays his character perfectly. I am in utter shock of how bad of ratings this movie got, because it is my favorite comedy! That being said, my taste is stupid humor that lacks thought; however, that type of humor is the humor of the 21st century. There are no intelligent jokes, no well-thought out scenes, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

If you saw the trailers for this movie like I did and are expecting a non-stop out of control European cocaine and hookers party with the famous motor mouth himself, sadly, that movie does not exist. However, what does exist is a very light little comedy about some outsiders and weirdos who go to Germany on a business trip. It doesn't have big punchlines and stupid catchphrases and ridiculous orgies. The comedy is character driven, which is smart given that there are a bunch of really good actors in this film. Underneath that lies a very sweetly- natured family dynamic that Vince handles in a realistic and understated way.It reminds me of Cedar Rapids, in a way, mostly because Hollywood has no idea how to market these low-key character driven comedies. They think people will be bored, and they are right, the Micheal Bay crowd will be bored by this movie and they won't think its funny. But they still haven't figured out that its OK that some people may not like it or think its very funny, every film doesn't have to be Wedding Crashers or Old School, home runs are nice, but so are singles and doubles. There are problems with this film, the pacing, at times it feels like a student film no one is running, the fact they sandwiched what feels like could have been a pretty believable family movie around this R-rated content, what ever the hell Dave Franco is doing, but somewhere in there is a really good movie, they just couldn't quite make it all work. Then someone decided to market it as Eurotrip 2 with Vince Vaugh and it flopped. Its probably better than Fred Claus.

Let's get this out of the way from the start: This is not Swingers. You can't copy a formula like that, though Vince Vaughn does his usual shtick once again. And here lies the ingredient that will either lead to you enjoying this or absolutely dreading the experience of watching this movie. If you like him and the characters (quick talking, full of quips) he's portraying, you can be assured that you will at least have some fun with this. With two sidekicks who do a good job completing him (if that's what you want to call that). Especially Franco plays that innocent and uneducated simple minded guy as good as is possible. He seems very comfortable slipping into that role.A lot of sexual jokes and a bit of nudity along the way, if you're not offended by that ... if you are, try the wheelbarrow ... ;o)

Rare is the film out of Hollywood that shows the American businessman for what he is... a true hero! We're constantly bombarded with depictions of businessmen in movies as greedy, evil, capitalists. When really its a bunch of guys like Dan Trunkman. He's trying to make this deal to save his company, send his kid to private school so the kid won't get bullied, save the jobs of his co-workers. , etc. He's up against unfair competition (the competitor is likely sleeping with his customer) The Europeans don't get him... to them he's like a strange animal in the zoo that they stare at puzzled (as American Businessman 42) But he is tireless and driven and caring and never gives up. And the summary that his daughter writes of her dad reflects that.I had to agree with my wife that some of the comedic timing was a bit off. She found the Dave Franco character annoying while I found him hilarious. But for me the best part of the film was not the comedy but the message.
