Although the sequels were diminishing (the 3rd one is terrible) this first in the FIFA commissioned series is a real gem that manages to both be about sport and also about real character and their emotions. It's real fantasy stuff as Santiago Munez comes from LA to play for Newcastle Utd and the journey he goes through along the way. The actors all do some nice work in their roles and the script from La Frennis and Clement adds a fair bit of humour. The football scenes themselves are a bit hit and miss, but certainly well attempted. If nothing else this film captures the spirit and love that people have with the English Premier League.Overall my advice would be to watch this film and forget about the sequels.

It's a very touching yet realistic movie that focuses on the life of a young man, Santiago. The characters were very well developed which made it easier to watch and understand, by the end of the movie you are so invested in his life that you don't want it to end. The participation of his dad, Gavin, Glen and his grandmother was very interesting yet intriguing in some cases. It also gets you very involved in the sport (soccer) even though in my opinion that specific part of the movie wasn't very realistic. the movie is actually full of different emotions. In all, I enjoyed the movie and the characters very much.

With a great set of performances and some amazing direction the movie definitely creates an impact. The rise of a star, shows the hardships, the struggles, the emotions reaching a threshold and still the boy next door creating an impact. The movie though inspirational could have been amazingly strong, if the dialogs had a little more power. The scenes though really strong could have gone much BIGGERRRRRR, with just a slight improvement in dialogs or the background score. The scenes that actually did make some impact were the scenes where Munez makes a comeback on the training field post his father's death, and the one where the news of his inclusion in the team is given to him by his coach. Though the impact in plenty of scenes was reduced because of the lack of exceptional background score and/or great dialogs.. What made the 1st part of the franchise special was the fact, that the protagonist's(Kuno Becker) character has been built in such a brilliant way that you eventually fall in love with him. Actors have performed well but the showstopper has been Kuni Becker, pulling a great performance. The execution while showcasing the matches has been great where the pitch, the entrance, the stadium have been shown larger than life, which comes of as a fact seen through the eyes of an aspirational struggling to make a mark footballer. All in all good movie, which could have been a BIGGGERRRR movie if some things were taken care of!

This film is absolutely brilliant.I like this film, because it is about football and i like football very much!!!OK,this film isn't real, because Santiago, the main character, but a street boy, can't play Premier division,English league, immediately, but it is film and in the film can happen everything. It is too sadly, because Santiago father died, but Santiago play again in New castle and he play on well and in the last match in the season he scores. I like New castle stadium, because It is nice a big.On the other hand, the stadium in America is bad. Why,because there aren't seats and there isn't roof. So,when it is raining, you must go away,or stay there and you will be wet.
