Originally, it did not do great, but with time it has become a favorite amongst young woman, the story of julie yet not origanal to a movie buff yet inspiring to first time viewer, It has taught young girls to be strong. as to join karate. Hillary Swank Has had a long career but for her first movie it is not that bad.

This is a stunning, fun, cute movie that is full of heart. Pat Morita is perfect as always as Mr Miyagi and Hilary Swank brilliant as a teen who has recently suffered the tragic loss of her parents. All of Hilary's star potential is budding here. A very enjoyable journey that reminds us of the truth that those we love never truly leave us and remain in our hearts and in the gifts they shared with us. Love Christopher Cain's direction that gave us just enough familiar fun themes without it being a carbon copy of previous movies in the series.

i am a big fan of the 1st three, even the 3rd one had its good qualities, but there is nothing good about this movie i can say , i am shocked pat Morita did this movie, the story and acting is laughable , the plot makes no sense , the jade smith one is better than this, I'm sorry to say this is a karate kid movie, thank god they didn't make another, i feel like someone used a crane kick on my head after watching it , if i could give it a zero i would. I am so sorry pat that you did this.

Pat Morita, Hilary Swank, Chris Conrad, Constance Towers, and Michael Ironside star in this 1994 drama sequel. In this chapter, Mr. Miyagi (Morita) attends a WWII ceremony in Boston, MA honoring him and his late friend. He visits his friend's widow, Louisa (Towers) and meets her granddaughter, Julie (Swank). He notices that Julie is angry because her parents are dead and takes her anger out on Louisa. He asks Louisa to spend time in his house in California while he helps Julie. He takes Julie under his wing teaching her karate to defend herself against bullies in school and regain her self-confidence. Julie also meets Eric (Conrad), a boy in school who's a cadet for the air force and they fall for each other. Eric and Julie face the same bullies in league with Col. Dugan (Ironside) who's a war nut. This is a pretty good sequel, Morita and Swank are great together and Bill Conti's score is excellent as usual. I recommend this.
