This is now on my list of top ten worst movies, for both plot and acting. "Trite" is the word that comes to mind. The script tries to be funny -- (e.g., drunlalogue stories that are in actuality signs of alcohol abuse - passing out in a subway, throwing up on someone, going home with strangers, etc) -- and instead our intelligence is insulted. We don't believe she is cute and sassy but rather socially disruptive and annoying, and actually lacking in social intelligence (she wrecks her boyfriends interview, she is untrustworthy in public, she is dangerous in many instances, and high)...we don't find it funny, but rather a failed attempt to make "sassy" look like good times. It doesn't reach any kind of bar for humor that an adult would seek. Her "sassy" behavior seems really more about personality disorder qualities -- pushing and hitting people, appearing at all times unstable, creating chaos everywhere she goes, manipulating people, seeking the spotlight, expecting others to follow her outrageous commands. I acknowledge it must be hard to act in a convincing way when given a script that is weak and contrived (e.g., a strange yet wise old man in a few minutes time gives wierd / sage advice to Jordan in a scene trying to be deep yet failing miserably)...but still, the acting must be called out for its sophomoric and inexpert quality, from all participants. The movie tries to be deep over and over yet comes across more as an 8th grader trying to explain first love, in mono-syllables and short sentences. It just does not work as a story line or as a platform of any sort for these actors. I was disappointed to see it rates as high collectively as 6.3. This movie is representative of the failure of the style of "up-market' in our current culture...if you ask me.

It is a remake, so it's nothing new by default. However, if we pretend that it wasn't a remake, it would still be nothing new. A story about an unlikely couple experiencing trials and tribulations en route to some sort of resolution is not a novel approach to romance. The acting was OK, but not spectacular. Maybe the lead characters did not quite fit the actors or maybe it was something else, but I just did not find them entirely convincing. As a matter of fact, I could not really care less what the final outcome of the story would be and I am the kind of person who watches Christmas Hallmark rom coms.Granted, the movie does have a message, which is why I am not giving it just one out of ten. However, the message is conveyed in a fairly clumsy manner, borderline ridiculous.

Luckily I saw the korean film first. I saw this on IMDb when i was giving the original film a ten out of ten.GO WATCH THE ORIGINAL FILM!!!!!!!!This film should burn in hell. This director probably found the original films script translated it to English. Then said hey let's make a romance film! I want the director of this film shot through the head for doing this.GO WATCH THE ORIGINAL FILM!!!!!!Don't even waste your time with this film. Like just about every other reviewer said watch the original before you watch this. This just shows you how far the American Romance genre has fallen. It is sad that the director did this.GO WATCH THE ORIGINAL FILM!!!!!!!!In case you didn't see my subliminal messages in this reviewGO WATCH THE ORIGINAL FILM!!!!!!!!GO WATCH THE ORIGINAL FILM!!!!!!!!GO WATCH THE ORIGINAL FILM!!!!!!!!GO WATCH THE ORIGINAL FILM!!!!!!!!

Sorry all you korean movie lovers, but I just watched it to see if it's sooooo good compared to this lovely American version. What's so special about the acting in the korean version? Sorry, but I don't get it. I don't seem to be worthy of watching good movies, because I refuse to compare every apple to the one I ate yesterday....I simply can't stand this kind of Asian acting and the actors themselves appear as sexy or attractive to me like a car accident. No to the korean version. This one's better for me.The NewYork Sassy Girl movie was one of the best of its kind right behind movies like Serendipity. But maybe you have to have found true love to appreciate what the actors really did for us on screen.Watch it! It's simply a beautiful and funny movie....
