After their parents are killed in a fire, Sam and his sister Jenna grow up supporting each other, Sam paying for his sister's rent, and Jenna ensuring that Sam is safe while he time-travels to solve murders. There is a scene in The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations where Sam (Chris Carmack) rants about how the more he jumps back and forth between past and present, the more it messes with his brain. I totally understand how he feels: I was confused on my first watch and I imagine that if I were to go back to 'observe' any more times I would only become more baffled.I can accept the premise that he can jump back to his younger self and see events that have already happened, but I haven't a clue how his character always manages to be in the right place at the right time, and the more I think about it the more my head hurts. I also fail to understand that, when he interferes in past events, he sometimes wakes up in the bath of icy water where he started, but at other times, returns to find himself on a couch. And when he returns having altered his future by changing the past, why does he have no recall of his current new life. Confused? You will be, if you try to figure out all of the paradoxes and loop holes in this film.So don't.Have a few beers, try to not think about the many awkward questions thrown up by the convoluted twists and turns in the script, and the chances are you'll have a reasonably fun time. The film is well acted, competently directed, and features several scenes that will definitely appeal to those who like their movies on the trashy side, most notably a totally gratuitous sex scene with a big-breasted barmaid (Sam screwing her on top of a glass topped coffee table, the camera shooting from underneath) and some pretty vicious death scenes, as Sam's meddling with time results in a serial killer, who offs their victims with a power-tool.The film also ends with a fun but silly twist that involves his Sam's sister Jenna wanting to make out with her brother (nothing like a spot of incest to make a film more entertaining), and which requires Sam to go back in time and effectively kill his sibling (even though it looks like he could easily have saved his entire family from the fire and created a time-line in which they all lived happily ever after).

Well, "The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations" is not a bad movie, but it is not the best of the three movies in the series. That being said, don't get me wrong, because the movie is still watchable and enjoyable. However, the changes brought about in this movie by the jumping back in time events really weren't as impressive as in the first movies. But from the story aspect, then "The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations" had a rather nice approach to the events that evolved around the storyline. There is a high chance of some confusion arising from some of the scenes. At least right up until the ending, because some of the stuff that was happening wasn't overly coherent at all times. But it was all cleared up towards the ending. As for the actual ending of the movie, well, I will say that it didn't really go all that well with me. But of course, this is a matter of preference. The actors and actresses in the movie were doing good enough jobs with their given roles. Nothing overly outstanding or memorable here though.Personally I found the sex scene to be really tacky, and it shouldn't have been in the movie at all. It is just so 1980's, and doesn't really help the movie along one bit.Having seen the movie now, I think this is the type of movie that quickly fades and dissipates from memory, as most of the previous movies did. Good enough entertainment here and now, but hardly sustainable in the long run.I am giving "The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations" 5 out of 10 stars, because it was enjoyable enough, but there was just something lacking to make it unique.

Sam Reide (Chris Carmack) uses his time-traveling ability with help from his sister Jenna (Rachel Miner) to solve crime pretending to be a psychic to the police. Elizabeth, the sister of Sam's murdered girlfriend Rebecca, tells him that her convicted killer Lonnie Flennons is not the right one.The 1st Butterfly Effect has Ashton Kutcher at his hyper best. The start of the franchise has an interesting idea but some confused messy story elements as well. Butterfly Effect 2 is a waste of time. The character isn't compelling or watchable. The tone lacks the original darkness. In this 3rd installment, they are able to get most of it back. This time the lead is Chris Carmack who has a roughness that translates well as he gets more manic. Rachel Miner co-stars solidly but she needs more screen time. Some of this is filmed in Detroit which works quite well. The logic of the situation is expanded a little in this one. Also the movie starts right away having already traveled back in time and affecting a big change.

This movie is much better the second one in seriesThis time is movie Sam, who back in time you save is sister from fire that where she original died, when he did that he accident created serial killer. This movie is more kinda of slasher movie as well, we don't get the killer at first, we just get see the killer kill the Victims and some of death scene are really bloody not gory.I found this movie really entertaining from start to the of this movie, this movie never got boring for me (liked the second one.I was a little disappointed when I found out who the killer was however he dose make sense for that person to be the killer. The acting was kinda of on and off in this movie, most of scene were really well acted sometimes they went bit over the top! This was good movie, 5 out of 10
