I had to stop watching this after the Adam Sandler character gave a short introduction and then did a "funny walk" up a long gangplank accompanied by a sprightly pizzicato soundtrack. I thought about it for a little while. Whose idea was that -- the jaunty waving arm, the goofy smile? Was it the director's idea? Did the director's Uncle Morty, who used to be in vaudeville, visit the set at the onset of shooting and say, "What you need is a boffo comic walk to liven things up a little?" Was the director too intimidated by Uncle Morty's show-biz provenance to refuse? Or did young Adam Sandler himself concoct that schtick?Who knows if the rest of the movie was any good. I had to stop right there because that scene made me spiritually and physically ill.

This movie is not as band as Adam Sandler's Jack and Jill, but it's very close. This was his first movie and some say that it should have been his last. The movie was bad all the way around. Nothing redeeming to even give something good to say about it. Its a typical late 80's bad movie. This one should have never been released on DVD.

This is without a doubt the worst film I've ever had the displeasure of watching, and I have to admit that I have no idea what possessed me to do so. The only retroactively funny (more like pathetic) thing about this "comedy" is how Sandler's lame character Schecky complains about the dropping standards of comedy being reduced to fart jokes, fat people jokes, jokes at the expense of women; standards he himself picks up in the story. The irony is that not only is it the routine that Schecky himself picks up as a comic within this "film", but also exactly what Sandler's routine has turned into in real life and in the rest of his meritless filmography. The overuse of the same jokes with no payoffs and its eerie similarities to the other films in Sandler's career (despite him not being a producer/director on this) is just a testament to his consistent mediocrity. He has not progressed as an actor or comedian in any way since this disaster, and anything that he's in that happens to be good is because of the director or its premise (Punch Drunk Love for example makes a mockery/parody of Sandler's personality in a satirical way that totally works). How Sandler's career picked up after this is a total mystery. The guy is talentless. Utterly and pathetically talentless.

As an avid Sandler fan, (qualification requires an IQ of 72), I thought this was bloody brilliant. Sandler's face on the box sorted it for me.2 minutes into the film I was riveted to my seat by the appearance of JAWS jumping through the air and catching an aeroplane. (Or was that Giant Octopus vs. Megashark?) I can't remember since they are both such incredible films.Sandler's comic genius comes alive and is yet again second to none, barring Michael Gambon (Dumbledore) - Love Ali G <3. Adam's friendly and warm tone of voice takes you away like ecstasy, you can feel the laughter bubble up from you testicles before it implodes inside your mouth in fits of laughter.I implore you to watch this film, it is as moving as Gladiator, as epic as Lord of the Rings and as horny as 50 Shades of Grey.
