2069: A Sex Odyssey (1978)

"2069: A Sex Odyssey" and there are many more titles for this one here, is a West German / Austrian co-production from 1974, so this one is already over 40 years old. Director Tressler and writer Fritsch were fairly successful at their primes, so I don't really think this one here is a contender for their most known work, even if only the biggest German film buffs will still know their names today. Same can be said about the actors. There are no big names in the cast at all.The movie is relatively short at 75 minutes without credits and it is a mix of science fiction, comedy and porn. A group of aliens come down to our planet to harvest male sperm as they need it as an important resource on their planet. Now you can probably already imagine where this is heading. The males in this movie are more than willing to provide their samples and much more than that. The film plays mostly in the mountain regions, so here and there we get a nice camera shot, but honestly there is nothing in this film where I would say it is worth watching from a creative perspective. This includes direction, acting, script, costumes, makeup etc. the only reason to possibly see it is how weird and bizarre it all is. And the good thing is that the film never takes itself seriously, is never ambitious in terms of that it wants to be more than solely a sex comedy with supernatural elements. The firls are nice. No matter if you like blondes or brunettes or whatever, there will certainly be at least one of the gang for every taste. The comedy relies mostly on sleazy plays on words with double meanings like the "Stoßtrupp" in the title. If you speak German, you will understand this reference. So yeah it was actually pretty funny at times. Do not see this if you are looking for quality SciFi, see it if you are in for some harmless soft-core porn and lots of completely inexplicable absurdity. Or don't watch it at all. I just cannot recommend checking it out.

And a hard spot somewhere else. I haven't seen this movie since i was quite young, maybe 12 or 13, who knows. But what i do know is this is the movie that taught me how to masturbate. I kid you not. I have no idea if it is any good by any real standards of today, but for me, back then, it was everything.The only reason i feel comfortable writing this is because i'm sure no one will ever get around to reading it. I mean, really, who is going to look up this movie these days?I just discovered that i have not yet used up the ten line minimum for the amount of length i most take up in a review. i had no idea there was such a minimum length, but there i go, like a student trying to fill up a page in a journal, my ten lines. thank you very much.

If you see the title "2069 A Sex Odyssey" in the video store, BEWARE!! The cover has Tori Wells and three other "80's" porn stars, and has a copyright of 1986. If you're like me (and I hope you're not) you'll think "80's porn? Tori Wells? Alright!" Trickery!! It was made in 1974 and has dubbed German stars! There's nothing inherently wrong with 70's German porn, but it's not my cup of tea, and it's nothing like what the cover leads you to believe you're getting. Once I got past my rage about the blatantly misleading jacket, I watched it anyway. It's a bad, bad movie. Sorry, I guess I didn't really get past the rage.

I will admit that this movie was awful, cheesy, sexist, badly dubbed, and poorly edited, but I loved it anyway. I first saw this movie when I was 14, and it has stuck with me ever since. FYI, this is very close to hard-core porn as I remember. It certainly got my juices flowing. This flick gives a whole new meaning to swedish erotica. It is a humourous take on human sexuality as seen by hot randy female aliens who are, I think, just looking for some spermatozoa for their dying race.
