In a seedy bar in a town ravaged by war, scientist and businessman Hunt hires mercenary and former Royal Marine D.C. to assemble a crack team of ex-soldiers to protect him on a dangerous journey into no-man's land. Their mission is to scope out an old military bunker in Eastern Europe. It should be easy – 48 hours at the most. Lots of cash for little risk. Or so he says...

This film deserves a lot of praise just for effort alone. It delivers EXACTLY what it says on the tin, and is a lot of fun. What more could you ask?The setup is great, and the location is perfect. They get a lot of mileage and suspense out of a near-empty field and some gloomy corridors. The performances are good all-round, and the characters are drawn with enough depth that you care when something happens to them.Apart from that, the plot is silly silly silly - but it's a horror film, I really don't think that's going to put anyone off. Also at least the plot provides for some quite creepy situations, especially in the lead-up when you don't know what is happening.I have one major criticism and it will probably attract ghouls rather than repel anyone - it resorts to torture-porn, briefly, in a couple of places. They weren't enough to wreck the film, but after most of the film is dark-house-spooky it was a bit much. And finally: as has probably been mentioned by other critics, fans of a certain FPS computer game series (I am one) will almost certainly get a kick out of this film!Verdict: Silly, has its faults, but very well executed and quite enjoyable.

If you ever know about German history, this movie will really make you lose your trust into movie makers. It wasn't shoking, as for a horror movie it should be. The plot surely was written by an ape, who read a funny book about good old Hitler trying to create super ghost ubernazis with freaky tech. So odd. The ONLY Good thing about that movie was Ray Stevenson. His acting is truly great as i also loved him on the HBO Series "Rome". So sad he gave his best for a movie stupid and silly with literally no substance like this... go and watch supershark, way better waste of time. The beginning of this movie was promising. A fellow hiring gunmen to search for nazi gold, turning into a bloodbath for unknown reason. But as soon as the reason was revealed, you could just forget this movie. Especially the killing scenes where so unreal and badly made, with silly effekts and even worse music, that i was about to count the single popcorns in my bag rather than keep watching this movie

This movie is a case of; the premise is being more awesome than the actual movie. I don't know what it is but war movies involving occult elements and in this particular case also zombies, always keep disappointing me, while I still have faith in it that one day a great movie about it will get made! Don't really know or understand what the film-makers were aiming. Guess they tried to be more than just an average, silly horror flick, with zombies in it. They did so by trying to make the story something convincing and by building up things very slowly. But we all know that at some point this movie is going to turn into a zombie flick anyway, so why even bother? Besides, in essence the movie and also its story never surpass the level of a B-movie, so it's actually only annoying that the movie tries to be way more than it in fact truly is.Especially the pace and buildup of the movie is being quite frustrating. For the longest time, there is absolutely nothing happening. So please don't go watch this movie expecting lots of zombie awesomeness or different type of action. the movie obviously didn't had the budget or knowhow, for any of that. there is also very little, which is another disappointing about the movie. They at least tried to provide the movie with some cool characters and developments, for all of them but I still can't really say that the movie has any true great or likable enough characters in it. I honestly can't remember any of their names and I also can't really say that any of them had a good and distinctive personality. In other words, I just couldn't care quite enough for any of them, which also made me far from feeling involved with this movie. It's definitely not being the worst that the genre has to offer but I still can't really call it a good enough or very recommendable movie either.5/10 http://bobafett1138.blogspot.nl/

I admit to being dubious when I started watching this movie. I expected YET another zombie flick with Nazi soldiers. What I actually got was far more original and thought provoking. Not too thought provoking, but just enough to catch my interest. Most refreshing to see a British movie using British and Irish actors without forcing an Americanized script on their dialogue. Everything about the mercs feels authentic, from their outfits to their grit and melancholy. Ray Stevenson, Richard Brake and co do an outstanding job convincing us that we're watching a group of professional soldiers in action. Julian Wadham is equally persuasive as the quintessential English scholar, Hunt.Things I liked: the sets were excellent and accompanied the grimy, unsettling mood of the film perfectly. The tactical methods employed by the mercenaries was spot on, showing a good amount of research which is truly rare in contemporary horror. The bad guys were as bad as they come and quite terrifying. I've seen other reviewers compare this to Dog Soldiers, but really the only similarity is the presence of soldiers and a supernatural enemy. In all respects Outpost is a far superior and more intelligent film.Things I didn't like. Unnecessary gore/torture scenes. We already know Nazis are evil so no need to embellish our fears with some pointless pandering to the bloodthirsty teenage demographic. The explanation and exposition was somewhat confusing and the magical 'science' behind it all was unrealised. Where the movie shows depth of research with the authenticity of the soldiers' actions it fails dismally in the science department.Overall a creepy, surprisingly well made and very original movie.
