I Eat Your Skin (1971)

OK, so I think my favorite part of this movie was the zombie makeup effects. I loved the bug eyes and the transformation scene. Now, the main character was kinda annoying (at least at first). All his womanizing and bad pickup lines. But for me the zombies made up for it lol.

1st watched 6/29/2014 -- 1 out of 10(Dir-Del Tenney): Seriously bad movie about a mad doctor inhabiting an island called Voodoo Island initially trying to use venom to cure cancer but, of course, he starts using it on the natives and they start having a bad reaction(like they turn into zombies). And of course, the voodoo group on the island wants to sacrifice blond virgins ??, and the daughter of one of the doctors just happens to be one. A hunky athletic-type writer, played by William Joyce, is asked to go to this island to break out of his writing funk -- the publisher thinking he'll get inspired by the rumors about what's going on there. The "I can do everything" hunk upon arrival decides to try and rescue everyone and make everything right as well as write his novel. There are re-used sets, acknowledgments at the beginning of the movie to the companies who did product placements, and a lame title that doesn't really pertain to anything except to shock the audience. The makeup on the zombies is bad and there is a re-used plot borrowed from movies like "The Island of Dr. Moreau" complete with a bad guy who comes across way too nice at the beginning only to quickly become evil. It's fun once in a while to watch movies like this to wonder how it actually got made, and if the makers really had any intentions to do anything worthwhile or not. At least there are a few chuckles and the hopes that this will be covered on "Mystery Science Theatre 3000" for better chuckles but other than that this movie is pretty worthless.

A cancer researcher on a remote Caribbean island discovers that by treating the natives with snake venom he can turn them into bug-eyed zombies. Uninterested in this information, the unfortunate man is forced by his evil employer to create an army of the creatures in order to conquer the world. Horrible film.Directed so poorly. And don't expect any skin eating. In fact, don't expect anything resembling a movie! Bad B&W prints abound. No acting. No story. No directing. It's not even bad funny.Nothing but sleep for you.

I got this movie as part of the St. Clair Vision's Living Dead collection. I thought it would be a horror movie. But to my surprise I Eat Your Skin, while having the most gruesome title, is a comedy! Not a very funny one, but the characters go about so lightheartedly, and so ignorant, that it must be a comedy. The main character does nothing but look puzzled and ask for explanations. Almost all the ideas that he comes up with are stupid, and yet everyone follows him. There is a zombie army following at 50 meters, yet he tells the women (who never think for themselves) to stand still at some point. Obviously the zombies will catch up. It is racist as can be. Black people are either zombie or bad guy, but either way savage. It is also as sexist as can be. Women don't think for themselves (or at all). They are there to swoon for the men. The only thing that made me laugh very hard, was the island in the end. You'll know it when you see it. But don't.
