GirlHouse (2015)

If you're a woman-hating loser you might get a kick out of this garbage, it's a woman-hating loser fantasy. In fact, it has a lot in common with a woman-hating loser - no redeeming qualities.I got suckered in by the reviews......I despair, don't make the same mistake.

The first hour pays homage to lifetime: sappy meaningless dialogue; the whole movie is a tease. You go on a website like "girlhouse" to see tits and ass not fish bait dancing around in their underwear. The sociopath finally wakes up and snaps donning a mask from the .99 store and goes to town slicing and dicing non virgin wool. "Lover boy" (nice name for a deranged psycho)finally gets his head whacked a gazillion times thanks to some good handy camera work and the main character is now in need of some heavy therapy and prozac. The film needed to be trimmed down a few pounds and the focus needed to be more on "lover boy" and hot ta ta's. Skip this mess and stay with the classics.

Opening sequence was good, set the scene, then turned into poop. massive plot wholes, he literally got away with murder/didn't get institutionalised/Was still able to get a job for with murder on his record? I dunno maybe I'm overthinking it, but then for the police to initially turn away from murder? What so there is no IT people working for the police now? None of the other 100's/1000's of watchers called the police? It's not really a plot whole but I'll have a moan about it anyway, the "security guards"? Really? A big fat leatherhead looking mf doesn't ring alarm bells instantly? No guns? No taper? might as well of given the job to the junkie she'd probably have been just as effective

An entertaining slasher film, GirlHouse was probably made for a small budget but you can't tell as it is well shot/produced with decent enough acting by all involved. Ali Cobrin is very likable as the requisite "Final Girl" and there is actually a well-executed romantic subplot between Cobrin and a childhood friend that elevates the film, giving it another dimension beyond the killer slashing his way through the cast. Loverboy is effectively creepy with his pull on mask with it's female face and long hair. He reminds me somewhat of Frank Zito in Maniac as far as how crazy he is. There are some effective scares and creepy atmosphere going on and some of the effects are really well done, even though it's not a gore fest it has it's gory moments. Some of the deaths are really creative. I enjoyed it much more than I expected and I would recommend it to slasher film lovers.
