This movie did several things right in my opinion. The acting was actually good, usually when i see no familiar actors i am taken out of the experience when i see cheesy acting and this did not happen here. I like the story and the setting although it would have been nice if they through something else besides a house a road and cornfields. I see the point of making you feel like your there and not distracted by scenes before or after the cornfield. Besides the location only one thing stands out as needing work and that is the back story on how this killer or entity got to where we are now. One of the guys randomly gets visions that give you just enough for a vague understanding of how things got the way they are. I would have liked to see more scenes or information on the killer and how he got that way and realistic proof or evidence of what happened other than visions. But all in all this movie did more right then wrong and if you like intense horrors style flicks i think you will enjoy as well.

Horror, I find is the one genre, where the bad films are more popular than the good ones. Something about people wanting to hate that they love them or something. So while they're busy spending hours on end watching brain-eating zombies and giant insects, good ones like 'Husk' are often neglected. I'm a huge fan of the genre and hadn't even heard of this flick, until it appeared on my suggestions column. 'Husk' is a film that mixes elements of monster horror and ghost horror, that I appreciated for a change. Because on their own, they often tend to become a little predictable and ultimately, not scary at all. 'Husk', however had it's spine chilling moments, and few that made me jump. Clearly not a very high budget film, it makes good use of it's resources. There were no major effects on screen and no real gore either. It was done tastefully. The characters were quite one dimensional, but I appreciated that the underdog was given the main focus, rather than the hot chick or the jock. In addition to this, Husk successfully maintains a level of mystery throughout the flick and it wasn't a very obvious twist. However, the one issue I had with the film was the climax. Compared to the rest of film that explained every little detail and left no loose ends, the ending was a huge question mark. If it was meant to be one of those 'you decide' kinda moments, then it was done poorly. It felt abrupt and was a little disappointing compared to how well executed the rest was. Overall, it was a good flick, especially if you're someone who misses old school horror and good old scary scarecrows and mass murderer ghosts!

I only found out about this film as it was a question on a movie quiz. After watching the movie I realised why I had never heard of it.It is not bad by any stretch of the imagination, in fact it is painfully average. The acting is good, as is the script and camera work and the premise is good also. The corn field has been used in horror movies of the past to great effect. The rustling leaves, the disorientating walls of corn stalk; being both isolated and exposed at the same time. Scary stuff. This film doesn't really attempt to capitalise on this, it uses the corn field as a simple barrier to hem the characters in.Some of the scenes in the farm are spooky, which is the high point in this middle-flat-line film. One of the reasons I am writing this review is to remind me I have seen this movie as I am sure by tomorrow I would have forgotten it almost entirely.

As some others have mentioned, there ARE indeed a few obvious review 'Plants' here from the filmmakers. Usually that annoys me to no end! Maybe because I'm coming to review this film a bit later on it doesn't seem quite so egregious, but I also see a number of negative reviews too.First off, it is a SIMPLE, OLD SCHOOL Horror film. Second, and really think about this now... Just how many truly ***GOOD*** Scarecrow Horror films are there...??? Uh huh... NOT bloody many, right? This one did indeed remind me of 'SCARECROWS' (1988 - UNCUT) which is one of my very favourites and probably THE best Scarecrow Horror out there (not counting of course the Iconic 'DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW' telefilm [1981] which takes THE prize as just about one of the very best Horror telefilms made) It is NOT any where NEAR as heavy and creepy as 'SCARECROWS' (that li'l B@stard lays out some SERIOUS and unrelenting mood - and it gives NO explanation either, except some old photographs of the family that had lived in the house long before) But, in a lighter, simpler way this film is very similar.Yes, the movie is very simple; YES it is extremely low-budget, NO there is not a whole lot to the plot. BUT... And it is a VERY BIG BUT like Mariah Carey's... for what it is, I honestly feel that they did a very good job with it AND very importantly, there are not nearly as many awful and painful amateur moments with the acting, directing, etc. that you normally see a LOT with this kind of low-budget, Indie Horror. The characters come across as decent (NO, not academy material by a long shot, but in my lowly and wretched opinion, FAR better than the usual horrible crappy acting out there) So, if you are looking for extreme originality, forget it. If you are looking for extreme cleverness, nope... But, if you enjoy just a good Old School, fun Horror film, then you should like it.BTW, I really dug the 'sewing room'! That was a nice little creative touch...
