Sarah (Kate Bosworth) has an idea to spend time with her girlfriends camping on a remote island. Abby (Katie Aselton) and Louise (Lake Bell) have old boyfriend issues they need to still come to terms with. While on the island they bump into some hunters/poachers, three guys recently dishonorably discharged from the military. They hit it off fine, especially Abby and Henry (Will Bouvier) until tragedy strikes and the film takes on Rambettes vs seasoned killers with guns.I thought I would never get tired on these type of films, but I believe I have reached my saturation limit. The film is typical of the genre except the hunters lacked the personality to make this short film entertaining. Alex (Anslem Richardson) was a confusing character, poorly scripted. The theme is that we all do things that apologies don't mend, and centers around Abby who was wronged. Later Abbey tries to change how people feel through an apology. Might make for a rental if you like this type of film. Not the best of its kind.Parental Guide: F-bomb, attempted rape, nudity (Katie Aselton, Lake Bell)

Why is Kate Bosworth in this film? Does the writer have embarrassing pictures of her that he threatened to make public? I know she isn't the biggest of Hollywood starlets, but she's about a million times better than the dross you have here.Three women who absolutely despise each other go on another camping trip to a secluded island. In a rare moment when they are screaming abuse at each other, they meet three soldiers who are there for the hunting. One woman gets drunk and seduces a soldier, only to change her mind half way through the 'act.' He gets cross, so she kills him, meaning the remaining two soldiers decide to hunt down and murder the remaining three girls. So, can three women survive and overpower two well-trained soldiers with guns? I'll give you a clue: this is a movie. Take a guess.Whereas the soldiers have their military training to fall back on, the women just sit in bushes before trying to sneak about the place while shouting loudly. Then, when they get in the water, they decide just to splash a lot rather than swim.I can't think of many films like this. There are only six cast-members and you might think that what the producers save on cast wages they could put towards a decent story or effects. However, this has neither. It comes across as something a poor film student would make. The 'fight scenes' look like that sketch in Monty Python where six old ladies mud wrestle. Seriously, it's that bad.If you want hunting in the jungle, there's a little-known film called 'Predator' starring one Arnold Schwarzenegger. Check it out if you haven't seen it. If you have, just watch it again - it's in a different universe of film-making to this.Kate, why?

This thriller is directed by Katie Aselton, who also is responsible for the storyline and stars as one of three friends having a weekend getaway on a island off the the coast of Maine. Black Rock is supposed to supply relaxation and some privacy as the young women get together for the first time in a long time. Aselton plays Abby, Lake Bell is Lou and Kate Bosworth plays Sarah. Two are a bit reluctant, but soon get some of their differences behind them. Thinking they were alone, the girls are set back when they are interrupted by three local hunters. Heck, why not share the island and have a few drinks around a campfire. The mood changes as some heavy flirting causes the situation to get very bad. The three hunters are actually buddies kicked out of the military and they have no good on their minds. Very soon the night becomes a panic filled night of terror as the girls find themselves fighting for their survival. Yes, the fight is a bit gory, brutal and very graphic. The vicious hunters are played by: Will Bouvier, Jay Paulson and Anslem Richardson.Strong violence, raw language and partial nudity with sexual references earns BLACK ROCK an R rating. Nothing real redeeming, but throw back a few and watch some nice looking girls fear for their life.

Everybody associated with this movie should be ashamed. I've never served in the military, and this film still made me sick. Feminists vs returning vets. Guess who the bad guys are. I'll NEVER watch another film with any of these people in it. The premise is stupid. Thea actors are lame. The plot is predictable Hollywood bullshit. I'm having trouble writing ten lines about just how offensive this movie is. If you, or anybody in your family, or anybody you know has ever served in the military, do NOT watch this movie. It will only infuriate you. How sad that this is how Americans want to portray those who defend us. Two naked girls running through the woods trying to defend themselves from returning war vets and working out all their drama queen bullsh@t differences in about 20 seconds along the way. Disgusting. Shame on you all.
