A must see underrated movie. Incredibly moving! Powerful acting and drama. Based on real-life events makes it even more introspective. If you want to know what happens after someone pays the ultimate sacrifice, this is the movie to watch. I know it won a Golden Globe, but this is a story that deserves more!

I understand how some people completely reject war but this isn't a movie about war but a story about a man, a Marine, who feels guilt for taking an office job rather than go out on another combat tour. On the other end, you have a young Marine who died in combat and deserved to be treated with such care and attention. It is the relationship between these two characters that I believe is unlike any other movie I've ever seen. It is no wonder why this movie never made it out to the general public. It was kept quiet and because it would have made people second guess the war effort. Not that the director deliberately created as so, but when the public finally faced the facts of the war they began to wane on support of it. Even now, this movie hits home after twelve years of LCP Phelps's death. Get your tissues ready.

Taking Chance starring Kevin Bacon is one of the most stirring movies I have seen. Not only does it show us how our fallen Marines are treated after death, but it also gives us insight into what one of these "returns to home" does to the people involved and the people along the way. It is a most fitting tribute to the Marines and to how our country honors them. I recommend this highly to all members of the family. My family has a military history, although they were in the Army and Navy. These have their way of honoring the fallen, but they cannot and do not top the USMC's way of taking the lost home. This keeps you completely "involved" throughout, and there are no dull moments. Get it....and then come back and like my review....because there is no doubt you will love the movie.

Based upon the experiences of Marine Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, who escorted the body of a fallen Marine, PFC Chance Phelps, 'Taking Chance' is An Emotional Roller-Coaster, that leaves every patriot proud. Kevin Bacon delivers a Mesmerizing Performance as Marine Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, proving once again that he's a Master in his craft.'Taking Chance' Synopsis: Based on real-life events, Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, a volunteer military escort officer, accompanies the body of 19-year-old Marine Chance Phelps back to his hometown of Dubois, Wyoming.'Taking Chance' leaves you Proud, as a patriot. This film is a letter to a Hero, who fought for his Country & died. I Personally Salute Chance Phelps & Every Other Patiriot who have lost their lives, in order to serve for their country. 21 Guns Salute! The Screenplay, Written by Lt.Col. Michael Strobl himself, is Wonderful & even cinematically, it engages & moves you. Ross Katz's Direction is Under-Stated.Kevin Bacon's Performance as Marine Lt. Col. Michael Strobl is Mesmerizing & I don't mind saying that for the third time. Bacon broke my heart with his portrayal. If 'Taking Chance' were a Feature Film, I'm sure, Bacon would have won an Academy-Award for Best-Actor for his work in here. Bacon is a Master! On the whole, 'Taking Chance' is an unmissable GEM. Two Thumbs Up!
