Well I first watched this movie when I was 18 in 1994 and, feeling a little nostalgic thought I'd give it another look as I remembered it being good. Most times when you've watched a movie at a younger age and re visit it its never the same and left with the feeling of 'what the hell did I see in this'. Im happy to report that this movie is still as original as I remember and still a good watch. It was never a mainstream movie and was a new concept when first released. The acting is mostly good and the music chosen fits in well with the story line. This has got to go down as one of the classics from the 90's that everyone from that period needs to see at least once.

Edward Furlong stars as Michael in "Brainscan". Michael is what you would call a "gamer" in today's terms. He finds out about a new video game called "Brainscan" from a friend and orders a copy. The game transports him into the P.O.V of a killer. He then finds out the murder was real. This is a well made B movie, 90's up and down. It has a great atmosphere and characters and is endlessly entertaining. Director John Flynn works well with Furlong to create a tension driven morality tail. T. Ryder Smith is also great here. An over the top performance, yes. But it works in all levels here. He is both funny, likable and scary all at the same time. This reminds me of "Twilight Zone" and similar shows that take you into a distorted reality. Loved this film. 7 out of ten stars

I was surprised how cool this movie really is, a lot better than suggested here. Edward Furlong plays his main character very well in this movie. Honestly I especially like "bad" horror movies because they are many times funny as well, which you don't see in the average "ohh now I am supposed to be scared movie's"The background music is great as well!At last I was also surprised at the actor who play's "The Trickster" (Who acts crazy funny and mad!) (he doesn't play any many movie's which is weird in my opinion!)8/10 for me.

lazy Sunday afternoon, and it's raining, what could you do, visit the inlaws or watch the first horror experience with your kids. Than this one is an ideal movie to watch. As said in the summary, pre SAW, why, well, the kid got involved in a video game were he has to kill people to survive. Once that's done the game really starts, there are witnesses. Kill them is your next mission. The movie isn't bad after all, it's made when horror was at his deepest point of boredom. There were sequels around that everybody hated. So this flick is a relief for that era. It's well done it's sometimes bloody but never gory, due the fact that kids are the main actors this film surely will do for the kids at home, I guess they should be 16 or older. It's a bit past the theme now but place yourself in that era, the start of games, online, the coming of the NET, interactive games. catch it if you can, not easy to find here in Europe, some video retailers will still have it, I bought a new VHS copy for a few cents, never regret that, enjoy the game...and when your children are older give them SAW
