***SPOILERS*** Judging for the amount of users taking the time to write a review on the movie "Zombie Lake" seems to have reached cult movie status since it's release back in 1981. It has all the ingredients of a cult movie, in it being watched over and over by it's many admirers, in mixing WWII German soldiers who were massacred by French resistance fighters coming back from the dead some 30 years later to get revenge against those, or their descendants, who massacred them. The biggest mistake that the resistance fighters made was instead of burying the dead Germans they in order to save time, and check out before German reinforcements arrives, they dumped their bodies into a nearby lake. It's the mayor of the town who knew the truth behind a number of horrific murders that had taken placed there knowing that the truth would cause a panic among the local population that he kept quit about it. It's when nosy reporter Katya showed up looking for the big story that this all became public with the now invincible Zombie German trooper emerging and killing, by biting into their victims jugular veins, everyone in sight. This goes on through out entire movie until it's discovered, by reading about Zombies and how they operate or what makes them tic, that only the blast of a flame thrower can do them in.***SPOILERS*** There's also a touching side-story here with zombafied German solider Pierre Escourrou finding his long lost daughter Helena who was the result of an affair he had back in WWII with local French woman Nadina Pascal. Eeven though Pierre was very protective of Helena in the end it was her who discovered the way to do him and his fellow Zombie German solders in: By fire! In was in fact a act of love on Helena's part in that was what her father as well as the rest of the German Zombie solders wanted most of all. To be put out of their miseries, as card carrying members of the walking dead, and finally be able to rest in peace.

...There is no real plot. The zombies themselves look really really poor, simply men with green paint on. It's embarrassing to watch as the 'actors' emerge from the lake with most of the green makeup washing of with each clichéd lurch. The blood and gore is not really worth mentioning as all of it is off screen with the simple ketchup spray of blood on the floor or grass to give indication of death. To top this movie off the dialog itself is really poor, and the UK DVD disc I viewed has quite possibly the worst dubbing ever; it was quite clear that all the voices were done by a single man and woman.Overall, this film has to be seen to be believed, ironically enough I strongly urge you just to take our word for it – and for the love of god don't watch it. I honestly mean it; this film is simply not worth watching. It's barely a movie by my definition of the word. It's an insult to the genre.Read the full review at: beyondthegore

Let me just say that the poster of this movie has better zombie action than anything within this rather strange and bizarre zombie film. Suffice to say if I had paid more than the 6.99 for it, I would have been rather ticked off. Still, while it was horrible to say the least, it did contain some really good nudity which is the only reason I gave this one a two. I like nudity and I am not going to pretend the shots of the ladies underwater was not like totally great in an otherwise abysmal film. The story though had something going for it, I do enjoy a water setting for my horror and I like the idea of zombies emerging from a lake to kill people and drain them of blood. Just like I enjoyed the far superior "Shock Waves", now that one was completely awesome and was good enough story wise and in how it was presented that it did not have to resort to nudity. This one though was done badly, it is a car that is in need of a major overhaul and it could have worked. Heck, if they simply made it an adult film it may have worked, but they try to make it a bit to serious in places and near the end it is so bland and sentimental you almost forget the many girl basketball team that gets nude and attacked with the lighthearted music while they splashed each other. I would start by throwing out the entire subplot of the zombie reuniting with his daughter, also if you have Nazi zombies you do not make them sympathetic characters, they are Nazis make them bad like the crew from "Shock Waves" who needed no blood, or flesh for sustenance, but killed just because they could. Add more nudity, seriously there was a lot, but after this outdoor bathing scene all the nudity vanished and you were left with like twenty minutes of how to kill said zombies. Also, I would say do a better job with the makeup, seriously they have a flashback with all these explosions. Save the money on explosions and use this to enhance your zombies. There is so much more to be done to make it good, to much to list, but like I said the nudity was good, I especially liked the opening. Also, I liked the idea of zombies rising out of the lake. I can not believe in a book I read they said they thought "Burial Ground" was the epitome of bad zombie movies, and I think they mentioned this one. That movie was bad, but a very fun to watch bad. Other than the nude scenes this one was boring. The zombies were a lot better in that one too as were the gore effects. All the gore effects in this one consisted of the dudes playing the zombies having fake blood in their mouths and then drooling it upon their victims necks. Just a bad movie for the most part with its only redeeming quality being something that is not going to appeal to everyone.

"No fair, you're not wearing any panties!" The previous lines from the scene with the naked girls volleyball team make this worth at least a night's viewing with your drunk friends. Zombie Lake is classic! Whenever I find out a video store carries this film, I immediately rent it.Elaborate plot line boils down to this: Dead WWII soldiers dumped in a lake. One of them did the local farmers daughter the night before. Now the soldiers return as zombies, although the one has a soft spot for his daughter and helps her to save the locals from their flesh-eating ways. The Zombies seem as if they aren't so much out for blood as they are looking to get some lovin. Half the death scenes look like they're just making out with their victims. Euro-trash de jour! Bon appetit!
