This is a delightful little movie in the science fiction genre. Not that well known but still a cult hit for those that matter. Chopping Mall, as you righty guessed takes place entirely inside a mall. A group of horny teenagers romp in a mall and get left inside after shut down. The mall has recently installed high tech cameras and giant robots to safeguard the mall (!!!) and on the night the kids are locked in there happens a thunder strike that takes out all the computer boards. The Robots come alive, kill their caretakers and start hunting the mall. This is a fun flick that undeservedly got forgotten on release. Great performances from the young cast must be mentioned.

sure it's not Oscar dramatic quality, but to be honest this is way more fun to watch. the score is great, the robots are killer ! and it has 80's nostalgia all over it. it's just fun to see what malls looked like the in the 80's, so this is almost like a historical document showing us what malls looked like then. helps me relive my youth. it's just a fun movie.

CHOPPING MALL is a surprisingly good little B-movie from a director hardly known for making films of cinematic excellence. It's a simplistic thing, as short as you'd expect, but having the appearance of a decent budget for once as the film is chock full of laser and electric effects and the like which stand up with the best fare from the decade. The great thing about this film is that it gets to the point straight away. A bunch of big-haired teens are locked inside a shopping mall at night with three security guard robots that have become murderous due to a short circuit caused by a lightning strike. Madness and mayhem follows, with an exceptionally fast pacing and a decent round of special effects to keep the viewer entertained throughout.Like Fred Olen Ray, director Jim Wynorski has spent decades cranking out one cheap B-movie after another for seemingly a few bucks at a time. Like Ray before him, his most interesting works are the ones he made at the beginning of his career, and CHOPPING MALL might be the best of the bunch. The cast isn't too shabby either, with Barbara Crampton one of the imperilled teens and cameos for the likes of Mary Woronov, Paul Bartel, Gerrit Graham, and Dick Miller. Horror fans will lap it up.

Good old Jim Wynorski delivers yet another fun film that's short and to the point. This one involves a bunch of Eighties teenagers who stay in a mall after closing for a night of booze and sex. Unluckily for them, three hi-tech security robots have gone nuts and are out killing everyone in the mall. The rest of the night becomes a battle between the youngsters and the bots. That's the plot, so let's move on to why this film is so much fun. It's all done firmly tongue in cheek, for starters, plus it has tons of references to other films (like the Posters for other films on the walls of the pizza place, and cameos from Dick Miller and Mel Welles), there's fleeting gore (although the exploding head gag is good), and some nudity thrown in there. Plus, the teenagers don't wander around for ages looking for each other, they instead arm themselves to the teeth and go head to head with the robots. It's a winner all the way this one, if you're looking for something fun
