Grotesque (2009)

I had to put a review out there for this movie. I read the reviews before I watched this and they are VERY MISLEADING. I had expected a pure torture/porn movie with no story, so I have to say I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED WITH THIS MOVIE AND HOW GOOD THE STORY WAS. I almost didn't even watch it because I don't like boring torture movies, so I left this one for a while thinking it was pure gore. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is the most thought provoking gore movie you will ever see.Maybe people just didn't get this movie, as there are too many FALSE reviews on this movie, most likely from people who obviously did not watch the entire movie. This movie is not for the average person. You must have an open mind and be interested in Psychology to really enjoy this movie. This movie has a VERY GOOD STORY to it, and definitely has a plot as well. I don't want to spoil anything, but there is a lot more going on in this movie than just torture. This movie is a straight up psychological MASTERPIECE. The main character, is a very interesting one indeed. You will be drawn in from the start, and want to finish this one until the end to see what happens! The ending also has a shocking twist to it.This movie is NOT all about gore and violence, like other people so falsely claimed. Yes there is lots of it, far more than movies like "A Serbian Film" so if you cannot handle that, then go watch SESAME STREET or MY LITTLE PONY instead. Grotesque is a very interesting and thought provoking movie throughout. The gore scenes are also very well made. They don't look fake and there is some very mean stuff going on in this movie. This movie could be considered straight from the devil, and my warning is to those who scar easily should NOT watch this. The main character in this movie is among the most sick and evil characters I've ever had the pleasure of viewing in a film. The acting is very good as well. There is LOTS of Dialogue in this film believe it or not, even though at some points the characters are bound and gagged. I just can't believe the bad reviews this movie got, and then CRAP movies like AFTERMATH get all good reviews. Aftermath had absolutely NO story what so ever and was totally boring and could not even hope to compare to this one in terms of gore, which is supposedly what Aftermath's strength was. Grotesque delivers where all the others fail...If you like extreme, sick and evil psychological thrilling movies, then this is a MUST SEE.

Came across this film here, on IMDb a while back but never thought to check it out until now! I came across this film again & thought to check it out, I first learnt that it was banned in the UK so it got me very curious as to why it was looking in deeper & watching it!A VERY, VERY sick film! The name 'Grotesque' fits it perfectly! An unknown doctor snatches a couple off the street & rapes, humiliates & tortures them in the most depraved ways possible! Ranging from hammering nails into a guys balls to cutting off a woman's nipples! Just twisted!There ain't much of a story-line to this film to say the least! It's basically what I've just described above! The doctors basically does this for sexual stimulation! He wants the couple to survive & stops the torture if they pass out or to patch them back up so the can live for a long period of time! Weird parts involved where the doctors comes in to the basement & eats cake & drinks tea! What? Not to mention when he plays classical music when he tortures them! Among other random if not unnecessary parts involved the guys eye getting popped out & this woman's arm getting sawed off with a chainsaw! The ending however was f**ked up! He rips the guys intestines out, ties it to a chain & asks him to walk to the other end of the room to cut his girlfriend free as an act of 'love'. But he once again tricks him as the rope has metal wire running through it!(Ass)This is after he lied to them about setting them free, turning himself in & giving them a large, if not colossal amount of money as compensation for all the suffering he caused the couple!Though vengeance was there's when after he decapitates the woman's head off with an axe (after she insults him & says he stinks really badly!) & it lands on the doctors shoulder & bites/chews off a piece of his skin! The the guys stabs him in the foot with the scissors! Then they die facing each other! How sad!The evil b*****d doctor survives & bury's the couple! He then back in his van sprays deodorant on himself & goes after his next victim...Overall, a VERY, sick, nasty, evil, twisted film! Not or the faint hearted but it was good all the same! Gory & vile! 8/10

First, I would like to say that I understand that this is a love story in disguise. It shows what pain one would go through for the other.Now that that's out of the way, this movie is awful. There's hardly a back story or really anything presented about the characters at all. We know the killer is a doctor (I can't recall which kind) and the couple works together. That's all we know. On top of that, there's not much of a story either. The couple gets tortured by a psychotic killer who gets sexually excited through torturing people. Whatever happened to plot development?The violence is stupid, pointless, and in the ending scene, completely ridiculous. If all you care about is seeing people go through extreme pain, go and watch this movie, because that's all that's there. Most people I've heard try to justify the violence in this movie say something like "BUT DIS IS LUV STURRY ND IT HAZ DEEPIR MEENING". If you've actually been paying attention to the little information you've been given in the beginning of the movie, you wouldn't think there's a deeper meaning at all. Even if it was truly a deeper meaning, that doesn't make it good. The point of the violence is to show what some people will go through for another out of love. The topic of love isn't original after it's been brought up countless times in all forms of art for thousands of years.If you care about a movie having substance, or not wasting time out of your life you will never get back, don't watch this movie. You will regret it.

This to me is what Hostel, Saw, and the myriad of other torture porn flicks over the years tried to do. I saw this film back in 2009 and I can remember the entire film vividly. The plot although tenuous is so disturbing and nihilistic that I felt I had to take a shower after the film. We have 3 characters in this film and almost the entire running length takes place in a dark dank underlit torture room reminiscent to a nazi-experiment chamber. I give this film a 7/10 for the sheer nastiness and how relentless the film is in depicting the pain and suffering of the two young youths abducted. This film has guts and guts is what you will see. I am not surprised the Nick Cage thought this was a snuff film because for the life of me this felt so bloody real. After the film I was so disturbed and depressed that I couldn't walk home alone. This hasn't happened since the original Halloween for me but I was just a kid than. If you couldn't handle Human Centipede, Serbian film or the Antichrist than stay far away from this one. You have been warned!!!!!
