(8%) After the first ten minutes or so this is a bit of a trial to watch, then the zombies show up and it gets a little better, and when Dawn of the dead legend Ken Foree makes an appearance you start to wonder if this could be something worth investing interest into. Well sadly this isn't worth ten minutes of anyone's time; never mind 90, as this clearly made by annoying zombie movie fans is a huge waste of effort mainly because it's just so lacking in ideas. You really cannot get away with making typical zombie films any more without there being something new or interesting added into the mix to keep things fresh. This has nothing new to offer whatsoever, it's not very well made, the writing is awful, and it has a cheap feel throughout. My advice: stick with the original Night/Dawn/Day of the dead.

This movie was awesome. You might see the 5 out of 10 score and think it's terrible and that's true, this movie is terrible according to the standards we usually rate movies, hence the 5 out of 10. The lighting is kind of terrible in some scenes, the camera-work isn't always consistent, the dialogue is cringe-worthy enough to be funny, the plot is asinine and the sound editing is poor. Now, if you're like me and you're in the mood to see a bada$$ movie with characters that don't make stupid decisions and instead decide to kick butt and take names, then you'll love Zone of the Dead. No whiney, pot-smoking teenagers here to waste time in this movie, no sir-ree.B-movie legend, Ken Foree, leads a no-name cast in this modern-day classic that pays homage to John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13 and George A. Romero's original Dawn of the Dead (which also starred ken Foree). It's basically about some toxic gas turning people into zombies and thus, it becomes a zone of the dead.I'm not going to give anything away but if you really dig awesome cheesy movies with a lot of action, you'll love Zone of the Dead. Also, I must say that this movie introduced some of the most bada$$ characters ever featured in a zombie flick. Armageddon the "Lunatic" is fantastic and entirely refreshing to the zombie genre (if you're a fan of shooter games this guy will have you cheering from your seat) and the "Prisoner" is a dead-ringer for Rico Rodriguez from the Just Cause games (and he acts like Rico, too, which is awesome). I was just so glad that there were characters in such a low-budget flick who did more butt-kicking than most $100 million dollar Hollywood movies. If you're into more dramatic, realistic horror flicks like The Strangers or 28 Days Later, then steer clear of this movie. However, if you thoroughly enjoyed movies like The Horde, Dawn of the Dead, Escape from New York, Vampires, Assault on Precinct 13, The Thing or any other classic action-horror flick then you have to add Zone of the Dead to your collection.I hope the director gets a bigger budget and makes more movies like this. I really miss films of this nature and the writer/director did a great job of reviving a genre that's recently been abused with a lot of cheap cash-ins. Long live low-budget flicks that entertain!

First of all "Zone of the Dead" is a genre movie. If you are looking for some aEpic masterpiece you are looking in the wrong place. If you are looking for a semi-scary, slightly gory, zombie movie with the occasional line of laughter, this movie is for you.I thourahly emjoyed this movie. However I am a huge zombie fan and I haven't seen very many Zombie Movies that have not entertained me.Zone of the Dead is one of my favorite new zombie movies. Although it starts off relatively slow, it builds to a great climax. The dialog for a few characters is a little absurd, but it could also be the acting. Most of the cast does a good job 99% of the time.It explorers the human element in the face of death.( (SPOILER ALeRT)Characters reevaluate either values in the face of death and danger, unexpected bonds are formed in order to survive. The Zombie in this story are undead like in the original "Night of the Living Dead. Tney are not like "The 28 Days Later" creature in which they are infecyed with the rage virus. Even though the contagion can be passed through the bite of the infected, which kills you, then returns you to life!!

There are so many other problems with this film. While making a zombie film shouldn't demand a huge budget, this film demonstrates that you need mostly a BRAIN rather than budget. Even the cheapest and silliest spaghetti-zombie is more interesting and entertaining... and they have been done 20 years ago. Even the shaky videocam Blair Witch is deeper than this flick. Here a new list of problems:1. Character roles: stereotyped and oh so boring.2. Acting: embarrassing.3. Script and dialogues: terrible.4. The plot: pointless and unoriginal.5: the horror: which part exactly is meant to be frightening?6: Photography and aesthetics: grey grey grey.7: Zombies: rabid outcasts led by a white masked pierrot8: Srating/ending titles: is it meant to be a sort of live action video game?9: Music: was there any?Better go see "VIRUS / Hell of the Living Dead" by Bruno Mattei.
