"Wake Up Sid" is a very good movie, though I think with a tiny bit of editing it could have been a great movie. Still, for anyone not familiar with Bollywood films, this would be a good entry for the unitiated.Sid (Ranbir Kapoor) is a rather loathsome character when the story begins. Although he's been in college for years and is expected to graduate soon, he's never worked hard and has horrible grades...and has not passed his exams. Most folks would see this as a wake-up call but not Sid. Sid is a completely spoiled and immature brat. He soon leaves school and returns home to his parents...and expects to lounge about the house having fun. He has no plans to work and treats his mother very poorly. Well, his father is not pleased and announces that Sid is coming to work for his company. Now Sid expects this means he'll be an executive and will have little to do but collect a paycheck...but Dad is NOT planning on doing this but instead wants Sid to start at the bottom in the company and work his way up. Sadly, Sid puts almost no effort into the job and soon loses this job. Dad is furious....but even more furious when he sees Sid treating his mother like his servant. Enough is enough...and Sid is thrown out of the house. Amazingly, at this time, Sid feels very sorry for himself and shows himself to be completely ungrateful. With no place to go, he shows up at Aisha's house. Aisha (Konkona Sen Sharma) went to school with Sid and agrees to let him stay. But she soon regrets this, as Sid just sits around her apartment all day...doing nothing and leaving the place a mess. And, when she comes home from a hard day's work, Sid hasn't made dinner and he expects HER to do it!! Despite Sid being a disgusting person, you know where the film is going next mostly because many Bollywood films follow a formula very closely....even more so than American movies. This brings me to a huge problem with the story....they made Sid so disagreeable and immature that he can be very off-putting AND his change at the end seems too extreme and comes too quickly. Still, despite this, the film does work...and the sweet ending still very sweet despite the awfulness of Sid!

First of all, i would like to say that every character in the movie has acted brilliantly. Hats off to Ayan Mukherjee. Ranbir Kapoor (Sid) has done a wonderful role. He carries the role effortlessly. Konkona Sen Sharma (Aisha) has done a great job . There are some instances in the movie where you feel a bit emotional, but you enjoy it, as it is a movie which describes the life of the present young generation......it is an enjoyable movie....i really loved it....

Wake Up Sid has a fresh exuberance brought by the actors especially by Ranbir Kapoor who plays 'Sid' who starts out as a spoiled brat who had no ambitions in life other than spend his dad's earnings. Through the course of this movie, he finds his true passion, true love and an independent life. As a college student who is about to graduate, I can totally relate to this story about the fear and excitement about starting a new life without any help from your parents. The perpetually underrated actress Konkona Sen Sharma plays Naina who travels to Mumbai in the hope of becoming a writer. She befriends Sid on her first day when she met him at a party. Eventually, they become roommates. Even though both of them have completely opposite types of views on life, they are able to live with each other. The movie does have a cliché ending which dampens the overall impact of the film. However, if you can overlook some of the predictable story lines, you can definitely enjoy this coming-of-age movie that will transform the lead character.

Nowadays every second movie is touted as a "Breath of fresh air" movie. So much so that i have started hating this word.Well it seems that there is a real shortage of subjects in our cinema. The remakes and "inspiring" mindset need to be changed.Literacy rate has grown up and so has the mindset of the people in varied fields including cinema. You can't deceit them by showing same content in different ways.In this crises comes out a movie WAKE UP SID which keeps my faith a bit alive. It brings something refreshing to word "fresh air".I watched it twice and loved the honesty of the attempt.I just got lost in the world of Sid.The screenplay was good ,music soulful ,screenplay was quite predictable albeit.Ranbir Kapoor is superb as Arrogant to Sober SID and made me think that he could have only done justice to it.He is honing his skills with each passing movie.Direction also to say the least commendable.Well as a cinema lover i would love to see more audacious and experimental cinema in coming years.
