I have only one thing to tell about this movie.....CLASS APART.One of the most under rated movie in the Tamil cinema industry.People may get confused while watching this movie but the whole point of the movie is to deliver the fantasy story with maturity to the Tamil cinema audiences. If you don't understand, then ask to those people who understood it or watch again if you have time but not criticizing it. We watch tons of stereotypical Tamil movies every year and then there are movies like this which wants to explore the past dynasties and give a new door to Tamil cinema and all we do is cry about it.THIS MOVIE IS A FANTASY TYPE AND PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT TO PREFER THESE KIND OF MOVIES, PLEASE DON'T WATCH IT O WRITE WRONG REVIEWS ABOUT THIS.

I am reminded of 'Jeans', which had a very young Aiswarya Rai, Prashanth, Nasar and Lakshmi as cast, AR Rahman for music, US as location and a relatively huge sum of money for a budget, all of which were painfully wasted by Director Shankar. There was an unnecessary drama, an emotionally intolerable and ugly flashback (with the mistaken notion that Gentleman's success was partly due to the flashback scene) and an absurd twist in the plot which together messed up the movie. Otherwise a lovely movie, the plot was in parts ugly and messy and it was a wasted opportunity for Shankar who could have turned Jeans into an exceptionally pleasant movie.Selvarathnam's plot in Aayirathil Oruvan is a hotchpotch of themes and scenes stolen, not from one movie, but from several, not only from Hollywood movies, but also from Tamil movies. I could see traces of some biological horror movies and even Saving Private Ryan (in the scene where the entire group lands in the island) and I could see a pathetic and miserably failed attempt to make an Indiana Jones or King Solomon's Mines kind of adventure. There is an obvious attempt to make a cheap copy of some scenes from Titanic, Apocalypto, Mummy, Laura Croft and Gladiator. The result is an obscenely inconsistent plot that made an absurd movie. After all this, Selvarathinam dares to blame his critics for their double standards of not criticizing James Cameroon's Avatar for the imagination and fantasy in its plot. Selvarathinam should thank his stars if he is even admitted to a theater showing Avatar, let alone compare ! his so called movie to James Cameroon's Avatar.India has the necessary talent to match Hollywood standards, but the Film Industry unfortunately sticks to the likes of Selvarathinam.

Im feeling Really sorry that i went to watch this movie. I had great expectations, I'm totally disappointed. The guys who are praising this much must be from tamilnadu... i don't know what did u guys see in it. I saw a mixture of too much things, i cannot explain what, may be visual circus... awful graphics especially that red things from the sea(what on earth was that), poor script. it was a clear try to make movies like the Hollywood ones. In the cinema hall I felt the movie was lasting forever, and suddenly it end.. a very disappointing ending.Even though I'm not from Tamilnadu, I know ur language and i luv ur movies, this is totally not ur cup of tea... plz be more realistic or at least try something like KamalHasan.

There are countless ways to end your life.you can die naturally, you can die in an accident and you can try suicide.AAYARATHIL ORUVAN is suicide.Everything about the movie can be described in one word-disaster.I am sure that even I could have managed a better job.this is how frustrated i was after watching the movie. you want to get a sample of the experience.go into the kitchen, cue up a male choir singing the music of hell, and get a kid to start banging pots and pans together. Then close your eyes and use your imagination.is a horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments. Rating acting-2music-3script-3graphics and direction:-2 after experience wow the best part of the movie is when it ends .its like coming from hell.
