Amusement (2009)

I rented this for 3 dollars on Google Play. Why? Im a big horror fan but this is just idiotic. I would agree with those reviews here that says the script makes no sense. Fx why would the guy with the glasses be some kind of psycho? What is the connection of the two psychos from the first segment to the laughing man? The plot is a boy tortured a rat when a child and he wants revenge on three of his female classmates for making fun of him. So who are those two psychos from the first segment and what are their connection to the laughing man? Besides that everything is just jumping out of air to connect and suddenly she goes from a building to a truck and stabs the laughing man and then gets out of her trap. I agree with those that say the clown is pretty cool. This segment was a bit like A Stranger Calls. Pretty good actually. Anyway I am all for suspension of disbelief but this movie just does not make much sense.

Amusement is a mediocre horror/thriller movie about a psychopath that stalks three girls that he went to school with. Sounds familiar? This is basically the premise of a mediocre slasher from the 80's combined with torture porn (Without any of the bloodshed).The strong point of the movie is that the killer does a decent job portraying a madman. However the downsides include bad acting from the rest of the crew. The movie plays out like an anthology series before reaching the climax at the end where all three girls are trapped with the madman.In typical fashion the killer is an idiot and the victims are equally stupid. During one scene in the end you more or less find yourself almost rooting for the killer to catch them all since they are so stupid.The first segment starts out good with a truck driver that has something to hide. The second episode is pretty bad, it was a dead give away from the start since you by now know its in the anthology format. The third segment was also sadly obvious. There is a huge chunk of the movie that remains unexplained, but that might be good because it saved me another 30 minutes of this movie.I think that the biggest problem for this movie that it's just mediocre. It takes itself serious but do not deliver what you want from a slasher movie. The body count and deaths are all bad. There is no decent gore or anything.This is just a waste of time. I am just glad that i did catch it on TV and did not pay a dime to watch this. With another cast and a change of format it might have something worth the time, but this did not work at all in anthology format.

I saw this movies cover, and I wanted to see this movie really bad. The clown on the cover, and the little summary on the back of the cover, and the fact it was $2.99 at a closing store, I expected way, way, WAY more out of it. Very cheesy and very unrealistic. So very predictable and not scary. The casting people could have done a lot better, the writers could have written the script a lot better, and the concept could have been better. Yeah, it was creepy. But, sadly, the clown was the best part. I would love to meet that clown and creep these actresses out. The women's stories really did not flow together. SPOILER ALERT -- The insane man in Shelby's story wasn't the insane man in Lisa or Tabitha's story, Shelby's killer had a big mustache and had hair on his head, where the other guy was totally different. Do not see this movie.

When I first saw the preview for this film I thought, "Wow looks pretty freaky." So, one day I looked it up on netflix and watched it. Well by the end of the movie the only thing I could say was "What?" I mean right from the beginning this movie made absolutely no sense. So here's an example/SPOILER. The first scene of the movie shows a young couple going on a convoy (following someone completely random)to a gas station. Once they get there they get out of the car and meet the person they were following (which just happens to be the killer who is targeting the girl out of the young couple). Another small example/SPOILER would be when the main character is being interviewed by a detective and then once she leaves the room, the main character follows only to find that she's not even in a police station, instead she's in what appears to be a large dungeon? This didn't make an ounce of sense to me. But anyway, the only thing that was good was the production value, but that's it. Cheap dialogue, corny acting and lack of common sense are seen every character making this nothing more than another typically crappy horror film. The story was weird and was a bit pointless in a sense of logic, but it was creepy at a few points. This movie is short though, so watch it if you want something to make fun of. I gave it 1 star for the decent gore and the other for production value.
