I have read the book twice now. it is my favorite book of all time. The movie followed the book in major aspects but leaves out so much of which I loved in the book. when the book had more of a down the earth feeling and felt good. The Movie cut out scenes that answers why Craig is depressed. the book had Craig in so many situations and the movie was just a ''I want the girl but I can't" my all time least favorite thing was instead of actually having Craig and his friends and family's stuff fan out. he just shows it skimmed over mid-movie. it felt rushed and gross.

The only thing this film had going for it was the acting. Completely unnecessary jabs are taken at trans people; tired, racist tropes are used to try and elicit a laugh; and in the end the take home message is that the depression the protagonist is feeling was nothing more than self indulgence. This was garbage, and it was an awful message to send to young people who deal with depression, which is a real thing that causes real pain and suffering. This film was awful, don't waste your time.

I love how this movie not only makes you think about how fortunate you are, but also shows you how to deal with minor issues that have the potential to depress you.Zach plays his role so well that you can tell he has been through it all. His facial expressions are perfectly in sync with his role. Also, when the Egyptian guy finally breaks free and starts dancing to the Egyptian song definitely put a smile on my face - Being Egyptian myself I admired the scene and character greatly. I would definitely recommend this movie to you if you are looking for a laugh and a lesson on how to enjoy life more often.Favorite Quote:"God please grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

The first I watched this film I thought it was amazing and I gave it a 10/10. However, when I watched it again I'd give it a 5/6. I think the extent to how much you enjoy this film depends on how you're feeling. When I first watched this film I was quite down, therefore this film really made me realise a lot of stuff. Whereas, now I'm watching this film with a completely different mindset. The main character, Craig... He represents a lot of people and a lot of people can relate to him in a lot of different ways. You can also relate to his friends and family throughout the film as well. It's a good film with a good meaning behind it.I wouldn't rate it higher because after seeing it again... I think it's good but not that good. I get what the film is trying to say and it all makes sense... But that's it. It's not exactly life changing, in saying that the first time I saw it I would have said the film was life changing...I'd recommend this film... It puts your life into perspective to some extent.
