In Seattle, detective Quentin Conners is unfairly suspended and his partner Jason York leaves the police force after a tragic shooting on Pearl Street Bridge, when the hostage and the criminal die. During a bank heist with a hostage situation, Conners is assigned in charge of the operation with the rookie Shane Dekker as his partner. The thieves, lead by Lorenz, apparently do not steal a penny from the bank. While chasing the gangsters, the police team disclose that they planted a virus in the system, stealing one billion dollars from the different accounts, using the principle of the Chaos Theory. Further, they find that Lorenz is killing his accomplices.

Two cops, a rookie and a grizzled vet, pursue an accomplished bank robber. Chaos is a pretty well executed and developed heist, action, thriller that benefits from Jason Statham, Wesley Sniples and Ryan Phillippe which by my suprise did a pretty damn good job as a rookie cop. The film isn't without it's flaws tho cause after a very good opening it kinda slows down a bit and it drags in certain places but the acting as i said was pretty damn great and the twist in the end? I gotta admit it i did not see it coming and it was pretty damn clever for sure. (7.5/10)

You put two of the greatest b-movie action stars in a movie. And you don't have them fight. The story is not as original as the wrighter/director thinks, so it's an anti climax when the movie stars don't get to do what they're good at. All-in-all, this is a cheap ass action movie with a bunch of famous actors.

Statham plays a recently suspended police detective here who is pulled back onto the job and partnered with newbie (Ryan Phillippe) after a bank heist turns into a hostage situation and the man behind it (Wesley Snipes) demands to negotiate only with him. There are big explosions, some cliché cop drama, but also some great twists and turns, and the bank robbery itself is clever as the robbers disappear with over a billion dollars in a very unique way. I liked how they used the chaos theory and personally didn't see the twist coming at all, although for 15 minutes I'd been thinking really, he's...!?Ultimately this was just an okay action cop thriller until the twist and then things got interesting. The ending is very good and kept me in total suspense as I hoped for "that" outcome. Anyways I've seen much worse cop movies. 8/19/14

... But not so much really. Guess that's why I had never heard of it before I saw it listed in the satellite guide. Snipes and Statham, should be reasonably good, but the plot, dialog, and plot devices were just painful. After the setup and opening scenes, we are at a bank robbery hostage situation; the bank blows up, and all the hostages and robbers escape in the confusion. I mean explosions that blow the facade off a building almost never hurt the people inside, right? And then when the police were staking out the bad guys, and one of the police officers' pager goes off causes a shoot out; I almost deleted the recording right then and there. Also, Phillippe really can't pull off the smart / tough cop character he is trying to play.Thecnically the film looked good, and there were a couple of interesting plot twists in the second half that surprised me, but the poor dialog and improbable plot devices just over powered what little good was in the movie. It might be good enough to keep teenage boys entertained for two hours.
