The Swan Princess sure is a childhood favourite of mine, even in my mid 20's. I still hum the songs and miss the times when hand-drawn animation was the thing. No movie has ever captured me the same way as this one. I can't pretend it's a masterpiece, but I just love it. Our main characters, Derek and Odette, are set to spent every summer together from their childhood up to their young adulthood and that is not easy, because they despise each other! How they tease each other during a montage accompagnied by the wonderful song "This is my Idea" is really entertaining, and honestly, this is how many relationships start. It was spot on. But Derek is really bad at expressing his feelings to Odette, and Derek must then prove his love for her while the villainous Rothbart also tries to marry to get to the thrown without using destructive methods. Quite original actually, a villain trying legal methods. Therefore he turns her into a swan and asks her every night to marry him if she wants to become fully human again, but she only wants her true love, Derek. And with that conflict set up we get all sorts of things you'd expect from this kind of fairy tale. I think I like it so much, because it is so down to the basics of what I know as a fairy tale with princess and princesses, magic and of course a happy ending where good triumphs over evil. And this tale of ever lasting love just melts my heart. It's sweet, and even though I can see how the romance was a tad forced, I just can't help feeling it so much. The music is well composed and the songs are effective in conveying whatever emotion they resemble and move the story forward. And the end is perfect, gets me every time! The Swan Princess is an enjoyable fairy tale mostly for kids with good songs, colourful animation, entertaining characters and a creepy villain. It really should have been a stand-alone movie, because Richard Rich and co. has ruined it with forced garbage CGI sequels with stupid plots, impossible settings, awful songs and obnoxious characters. Stick with this one and preserve the real magic.

The Swan Princess when it was released on 18 November 1994 was the worst films ever made and was a box office bomb but now is considered a classic. The real box office bomb is the 1999 version of The King and I an animation family adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein's great musical. The Swan Princess is a classic animation film for the whole family!(C) Swan Princess Partners LLC1994

Honestly I have never seen in film during the year I was born being the worst! I haven't seen this film today and when I just seen it today, I just was heavily disappointed! The beginning just had a terrible opening Odette and Prince Derek were cheesing each other off from childhood to adulthood. I mean c'mon it's suppose to be a fairytale, not a stupid teenage film! Did they not think of the children viewers at all?I also found that one of the kid actors voices were just awful, they didn't sound like their own normal human voice, it sounded more like a badly synchronised robot voice. I don't know why this film won a Golden Globe because this film is awful and I wouldn't show this to kids, it is such a terrible movie!

Far Longer Than Forever is one of the greatest songs on this movie's soundtrack, and you may just yet love it far longer than forever. I saw this movie when it came out when I was maybe 5 years old and to this day, at 25 years old, I still listen to the music and if I ever get my hands on the movie would definitely watch it again. The soundtrack is really good, and I can say that there is a good lesson to be learned from the movie for both boys and girls. It is about a princess and a prince whom since birth were plotted by their father and mother, respectively, to wed and unite the kingdoms. They spend every summer together and like most growing boys and girls, go through the different phases of friendships. By the time they are old enough, they immediately overcome hating each other and fall in love. An evil foe executes a long awaited plan to thwart the king and kidnaps his daughter. He puts a spell on her that turns her into a swan unless she is standing in the light of the moon. She befriends a turtle and a frog and together they help end her curse and reunite her with her true love.
