Cop Car (2015)

Hey, I'm as big a fan of Kevin Bacon as the next guy. Or gal. Oh, let's just say human. I thought his presence in the 2015 film "Cop Car" would make it a worthwhile ride. Alas, with a nod to the vernacular of the '60's hippie culture, it was more like a bad trip, man.With scenes appearing to suggest that it is cute to observe 10-year-old boys "play" with guns, and then watch as these same children drive a stolen vehicle at 80 miles per hour, "Cop Car" feasts upon the bottom of the barrel in a desperate attempt at hip and edgy entertainment.In the end it is all at the expense of any scrap of entertainment at all.

Shades of No Country For Old Men, and that takes some direction, cinematography and screenplay. As one of the other reviewers on IMDb said, this movie is reassuring that the Spiderman reboot is in good hands. Definitely worth a watch if you like(d) movies from the Coen Brothers "edge of the seat slow thrillers" genre

I was looking forward to watching this film because the plot seemed so simple, two boys who steal a cop car and they are chased down by a cop, and the title is just cop car, I wanted to see what this was about. And what I saw was perhaps one of my new favorite films. The film is so simple, in a good way, there are no more than 15 people seen throughout the whole film, there are no unnecessary scenes or dialogues, no over the top stuff, most of the film takes place on the countryside somewhere in the USA, like I said, everything's so simple but the story is delivered in such a way, that it does not get boring for a second. Though at one point I was like, ''this is not as good as I expected'', then it got as good as I expected, what can I say, really good film, the cinematography is beautiful and the music (though very little) as well. How it could have been better? perhaps if the boys reacted more like kids, I mean, at the end with the whole tension they did not cry(at least not as much as a kid would cry), I would have been crying inconsolably, crying for my mom, and my best friend is bleeding a lot, I'd definitely be crying, anyway, just a little thing I would have changed, perhaps not all kids would have reacted like that, anyhow, amazing film.

With 'Cop Car', Jon Watts delivers a suspenseful, occasionally comedic thriller boasting an original premise that presents the naivety of childhood. Granted the children commit Grand Theft Auto in the first ten minutes, but that allows the two child stars to excel: James Freedom-Jackson and Hays Wellford. Rarely do two such young actors convey a realistic sense of oblivious enjoyment - which soon turns into concern as the gravity of their situation sink in. Kevin Bacon makes for a fascinating anti-hero/antagonist as the sinister Sheriff who methodically attempts to retrieve the titular vehicle. An excellent film for Watts' CV that justifies Marvel hiring him for the upcoming 'Spider-Man' reboot.
