Vikingdom (2013)

The wigs were very distracting. Fake fur on shoes, bags, blankets and clothing were very noticeable. Some scenes were good even with low budget. If you ignore the side characters, the four main characters including the only female had decent acting skills. The plot is simple and not overly complicated and is a well-worn but good story-line about the good defeating the bad despite many setbacks.The cinematography shots were done well despite the use of poor filters in a location that does not resemble Norway in summertime. They did the best they could without real snow. I loved the scene with the dead souls and its use of real humans instead of CG duplicated humans.Raw edged (not in good way) but authentic. Could have been a Hollywood blockbuster if there were more attention paid to details.

This is a terrible film. I understand that they had a very small budget to work with, but that's not an excuse for a bad script and bad editing. There's just so much cheese that you wouldn't believe it.The sets look fake. The weapons look fake. The locations are ridiculous. Everything looks like it's made of cardboard and spray painted with a stone look. The CGI is absurdly bad. I understand that some things are expensive, but there are places where you can buy realistic-looking or even real weapons for cheaper than these fake ones. We have rocks and stones everywhere. There's no shortage of that to resort to using cardboard. There are places that rent out castles and forts for weddings and birthdays, they're not that expensive, I know people that do cosplay and recreations that take videos that look more professional than this.But you can say they had a $1000 budget and everything was beyond their price range, but what's the excuse for the terrible script and cheesy dialogues?Don't watch it unless you're looking for a laugh.

Do you like Conan? Are you interested in Norse gods? How about fantasy and action? This movie delivers all of that!!! Some guys get on a quest and gather some more people to achieve a goal! It's like in Conan! If you like Conan, you will like this movie!Vikingdom has stereotype characters! Bad? NO! They are nicely portrayed and memorable! Simple and awesome! Musclebound guys, "real men", powerful women, great fight scenes, honor, betrayal and some twists, which make you think: What, this movie, a twist like that?! I didn't see this one coming! The movie has had a rather small budget, which can be seen in some scenes! Overall it looks much more expensive, than it really is! Thor is a hardcore badass! The Thor in some other movies (2011, 2013), well if that Thor would face the Thor from Vikingdom, then the "other" Thor would pee in his pants and run to his mommy!

I know it is labeled fantasy, but nevertheless, I would expect a certain degree of authenticity.On the positive side - The county I live in (Trøndelag) and my city of birth (Trondheim) is mentioned. I noticed some of the archers were carrying their arrows in hand, that would be the way it was done, at least while fighting. The plot and dialogue is not terrible.On the negative side - Just about everything else. Costumes, weaponry, props, SFX. As an example: The hero use a sword type that would come into play 3-4 century's after the era of the viking. Other weapons are just fantasy props.To be honest, is this one of those movies you don't know whether it is supposed to be a parody or taken "seriously"One reviewer told kids to grow up...I am 42 years old, and I enjoy a GOOD film in any genre. This was not one of them.
