Another week, another Seagal flick on telly – at least that's what it feels like, given the prolific nature of the star's direct-to-DVD output in the past few years. The good news is that RENEGADE JUSTICE manages to be more purely entertaining than at least three recent Seagal films I can name (ATTACK FORCE, FLIGHT OF FURY, OUT OF REACH) although I still think it's pipped to the post by PISTOL WHIPPED, a film I like for some reason. The reason this film works is that it offers the sort of pure, pared-down entertainment Seagal films want to see: namely mucho ass-kicking and violence throughout.Things kick off with an innocent man gunned down on the streets and soon Seagal's in town, whupping backside wherever he goes. There's some kind of drugs war going on between rival gangs, but Seagal's not interested in any of that – he just wants to kill the man responsible for his son's death. His quest follows the likes of TAKEN as he single-mindedly works his way through anybody who might remotely be connected to the crime, and he also takes time out to give a gang of skinheads a beat down along the way, too. This film works because it's action packed. There are lots of fight scenes, and the good news is that Seagal's present for all of them (he's occasionally doubled in long shots, but at least it's his own voice here, too). They're exceptionally violent, brief and vivid, and usually involve our hero kicking the criminals in the groin, breaking their wrists, noses and sometimes their necks, too. Along with the hand-to-hand combat, there are some shoot-outs here too, which seem to have taken inspiration from Robert Rodriguez's PLANET TERROR in terms of the amount of blood that sprays from somebody's body when shot. These are some of the most gruesome blood sprays seen outside of Japanese cinema, and I admit I wasn't expecting that. The story is kept simple and the dialogue is a detraction; this is the most profane film I've seen, even more so than a Tarantino movie, and not in a good way. It just shows a lack of creativity. Still, Seagal is on good film, making an effort to act for a change, and there's a nice one-scene cameo from Danny Trejo thrown into the mix too. Add in some attractive ladies and a cheesily hilarious car chase and you have RENEGADE JUSTICE.

Steven is mad as hell in this movie. Gangs are battling over drugs in this movie, and his son gets killed in the mix. That brings Steven to town for revenge. He is a badass dropping expletives and beating down gangbangers at every turn. There is police corruption, drugs, a hot chick that he lives above in a shabby apartment, Steven hacking into files, this one has so much to love. And man is he angry! None of that disinterested Steven like in some movies, he is downright laying the smack down. Lots of fight scenes, shootouts, driving chase scenes. And Eddie Griffin is hilarious. You don't usually get this level of acting from support characters in Seagal movies, but Eddie has some genuinely funny lines. You have got to check this one out. There are several quotable one-liners that you'll be using for years to come. This movie once again proves that you do not want to be on Seagal's bad side!

First of all I am going to say that Steven Seagal is one of my favorite action stars of all time. Yes,his ability to act can be questioned .But because of his lightning fast hands, and his ability to never run out of one liners is what makes him an action star.Okay lets get on to the movie. The story is simple : Seagal plays Simon Ballister. An ex-special forces who has a son who is in the police force. His son then gets killed in a gang shootout. Now it is up to Ballister to find out who did this to his son and why.Firstly the good points about the film. I am not going to spoil anything for you only that you should at least give this film a rental if you are not a die hard Seagal fan. The directing is pretty decent by a one DonE.Fauntleroy(who also directed Anaconda 3:Offspring).Seagal has a few funny one liners in this film like " I'm starting to get scared...,I'm starting to get scared ! Come on rob me!".The action scenes in this film are short but pretty decent in a Seagal flick. The fight scenes are decently choreographed and fans of Seagal will not be disappointed as he kicks ass a lot in this film. Now on to the bad points. There is one car chase scene n which it pretty long to me. And it seemed that Seagal is the only one who hits the bad guy's car all the time. And the worst thing is that these two bad guys are armed with a pistol and an SMG. while Seagal is only armed with his signature pistol in almost every film. They manage to miss almost every shot they fire at Seagal. Also the CG in the driving scenes were too fake for me. Although I cant really blame them on this topic as the are filming on a tight budget.Other than that, thats all I can say for this film and I give it a 7/10 for it is one of Seagal's better Direct-to-DVD films out there, than a few of his failed B-movies like Attack Force and Against the dark

Steven Seagal is back as a dad who seeks revenge for his killed son. He wants justice to be done. It sounds like a new Death Wish movie supplied with some kung fu, and that is what it probably was supposed to be.It could have been a decent movie, but it really fails in almost every aspect. The acting is as you could expect in a Steven Seagal movie, but the fight scenes are way below the quality in movies like the two Under Siege movies. It seems like that Steven Seagal is either too old or too unfit to perform action like in the old days. Instead he is always standing and just lifting a leg or punching. Therefore the fight scenes are also very short and cut in a quick way, so we do not see how old and slow the action star is today. We also have a car chase in the movie, but it is really not worth mentioning. The pursuit is slow, and at times you can see that the picture has been accelerated so it looks faster than it really is.The story is also pretty simple and straight forward, but the script is not what you would consider Oscar material. It is of course not what you expect from a Seagal movie, but it could at least have been a bit better. Well, it is not. There was a time where you could find something good in a Steven Seagal movie, but those days are over. Today his movies are just as bad as the worst from Van Damme and Chuck Norris. It is a shame, but maybe Lord Steven should consider retiring and instead focus on his music.
