Trapped in suspended animation, a human bounty hunter is released on a spaceship in the future with the creatures frozen along with him and tries to help the remaining crew-members track down and destroy the creatures before they take over the ship. This one here wasn't all that bad of an effort in the series. Among the fun parts here is the fact that like the majority of the other entries here this one does manage to capture the same kind of goofy and enjoyable tone that was always so present in the majority of the film's in the rest of the series with the way this one goes for the action here. This all starts off nicely with the space-pod being collected and the eventual release inside the ship leading to plenty of fun as the loosened creatures knock off the crew-member before the bounty hunter begins taking them out, the series of stalking scenes through the ship attempting to find the creatures in all the different compartments and rooms and their encounter down in the garbage chute which manage to be quite fun and somewhat entertaining sequences. The methods of containing the creatures down on the lower levels and how they come into focus later on in the trap for the military patrol seizing the ship.at the end. Those are really fun where they run through the guards in fun fashion leading to numerous fun and exciting deaths and action scenes which results in plenty of fun overall here. Again, there's the creatures' rather goofy, cheesy attitude and great effects work that comes into play throughout here which makes for some enjoyable positives here. There's a few small areas here that don't really hold up all that well with this one, which mostly stems from the fact that there's so little time on the creatures that they're barely involved here at all, despite not only being the longest film in the series but also manages to crack out the most amount of deaths as well. Barely being featured and having their appearances neutered so that there's far more time spent on the situation of being in the crumbling station and then having him be introduced to the new society as it's now in the future makes for a rather long stretch of time here without giving them much to do that it turns out to be quite a bland set-up here before it gets really fun. Likewise, the issue at the end where they appear out of nowhere trying to save the creatures makes no sense as the issue itself is such a cliché that there's little shock to it beyond introducing the guards for more creature fodder, stretching out the running time a little longer by putting in a series of scenes that add to it's length and really not doing much of anything here that makes for an enjoyable time. The last flaw here is the other stand- by of the series, as the cheese might not be all that accommodating to many others out there as the goofiness and straight-faced silliness on display might not be all that appealing to some out there. Otherwise, it's not all that bad at all.Rated PG-13: Violence, Language and Brief Nudity.

I had to write a review after reading one made by another reviewer. N J Darrant i would really like to know if you were serious or were you being sarcastic. Great film? One of the worst i have ever seen in my life. A must see please, please, please, PLEASE tell me you are joking. One of the best films of the twentieth century, i don't think you should be reviewing any more movies. I know that review is fourteen years old, so i don't expect a reply or answer to the question, but i would really love to know if he was serious. There is NOTHING good about this film, it is actually worst than the third one. Critters on a spaceship, what a load of s@%*. my vote is one out of ten and if i could go lower i would.

Don Opper, Brad Dourif, Angela Bassett and Terrence Mann star in this 1992 sci-fi/horror sequel. A bounty hunter helps space salvagers battle more hungry aliens. This sequel picks up where the previous film ended with bounty hunter, Charlie (Opper) finding 2 last Critter eggs. He gets a message from bounty hunter friend, Ug (Mann) instructing him to put the eggs in a pod to launch into space. Charlie does, but accidentally gets locked in and is cryogenically frozen with the eggs floating in space. After 53 years, The pod is found by a team of salvagers and they get a message from Counciler Tetra/Ug who thanks them for finding it and tells them to dock at one of his company's stations where they will be rewarded. He tells them not to interfere with the pod which gets opened with Charlie and the eggs getting thawed. After 2 members are killed, Charlie learns it's the future and helps the remaining members, Albert (Dourif), Ethan (Paul Witthorne) and Fran (Bassett) fight against more hungry aliens. Soon, Charlie and the others meet Tetra/Ug who's corrupt and wants the eggs. Charlie learns that Ug has changed and the film ends in a climatic showdown. This final installment could've been better and the main thing I didn't like was that Ug was bad. Brad is great as usual and probably one of the only good things about the film. I still recommend this if you're a Critters fan.

I think there must exist some unwritten rule in horror which states that, after a certain number of sequels to a successful franchise, there has to be one installment that takes place in outer space… Usually the space episodes are unspeakably terrible, though. Remember "Leprechaun in Space"? The retarded "Hellraiser: Bloodline" of which even the director distanced himself? Or Jason "Friday the 13th" Voorhees' little adventure in space entitled "Jason X"? On paper, a "Critters" in space didn't even sound like too much of a bad idea because – after all – the munching little monsters are originally an extraterrestrial species. That is unfortunately just on paper, as part four is an awfully boring and idiotic sequel that hasn't got anything to do with the joyful 1986 original anymore and it even makes the mediocre "Critters 3" looks like a cinematic masterpiece. Parts three and four was shot back-to-back, hence the closing sequence of the third and the opening sequence of the fourth are exactly the same. Since I, too, watched both films back to back, that was already a huge waste of time. The intro shows how recurring "hero" Charlie is about to destroy two Krites eggs when all of a sudden he receives a message from his mentor Ug; stating that those eggs are the last remaining of the species and have to be preserved. Charlie has to bring them back to the home planet, but something goes wrong and his capsule gets lost in space. Many years later, the floating ship is discovered by an expedition full of highly unlikely astronauts and naturally those idiots also unfreeze the eggs. There's a very significant moment in "Critters 4", when the spaceship crew explains Charlie where he is and how long he floated around in outer space. The look on his imbecilic face when he realizes that he just wasted 53 years of his life is also exactly how I felt throughout watching the entire movie! What an incredible waste of time. The Critters were apparently not interesting enough anymore to the writers and they actually just have supportive roles here. Instead, the big hero of the first three movies – Bounty hunter Ug – has become an malignant planetary ruler and the some spaceship crew members as well have bad and perverted intentions. The Critters, most of the time only two of them, simply just roll around a little bit and they don't even fire off anymore poisonous darts. Brad Dourif gives a reliable performance, as always, and Angela Bassett (still in an early phase of her career) shows her naked butt – which is a nice detail – but there's absolutely no reason to track this dud down.
