The Invoking (2013)

this movie was a complete and total waste of time. I usually do not like low budget movies because most of the time I can tell that they are acting but I wanted to give this one a try. And of course it did not surprise me by the under and over acting that was in it. I was completely confused the entire time but I kept hoping that it would get better and in the end I would miraculously understand everything that was going on. But that did not happen. This is a spoiler alert but I don't understand why the creepy guy said children and there was only one girl. I thought that he meant children because he was one of the children but at the end they got together so if he was one of the children,that was complete and total incest. I still kind of don't understand what happened in that house and I'm not understanding why she killed her friend, both of them were just completely crazy and none of that was called for. Even the stabbing was horrible. This movie was so dumb and irrelevant that I wish that I could just take it away from my mind and never have gotten it.! People you shouldn't watch this! Just save the hope and go to a new movie because it is really not worth the 80 minutes that it takes to get to the end.

"The Invoking"-Something, a spirit maybe, is being called forth from some beyond. Is the whole title based on invoking her memories? If so, then the villain/hero should have given her more information. There is no foreshadowing at all. She appears completely normal. Does the villain plan for her to see the ghosts? If so, he has great talent that is never revealed in his other interactions. Realism? Where? No one would allow this creep to hang around and no one would like Mark. Ah, they are only symbols of her emerging memories--then this is very poorly done. It was clear from the beginning that they would all die, but how? By strained idiocy. The title is misleading and worst of all, if that is actually the cover of the DVD, then it is false advertising at best. No house even vaguely resembles the house on the cover. What a piece of crap this is. I will say that with a proper script, these people may have been better, but the villain is clearly a creep, a poorly done creep, and his goal is simply non-predictable and, therefore, fails to provide a satisfying conclusion.

What's there to like about this film: 1. The location 2. The creepy guy3. Ummm 4. The end credits, which didn't come soon enoughIn a nutshell, this movie can be characterised by: 1. Its terrible acting 2. Its terrible characters, who are also uninteresting and annoying (with the exception of the creepy guy who didn't spend enough time on set for me to have a chance to dislike him). 3. It doesn't make sense. No really, it doesn't. Is it or is it not a super natural flick?4. It's just simply dumb. 5. No, it's super dumb, dumb on steroids, stupendously stupid... etc., etc. 6. Oh, and it's just plain boring. If you like your horrors to be blah and dumb with characters that are borderline retards with either too much emotional baggage or lack thereof, then this movie is for you.

Horrible movie, slow moving, boring, amateurish acting, silly naive plot, just pure waste of time. One of the worst movies I've ever seen this year. It really amazes me why would anybody make such bad movies with obvious weak script, cast, everything. It is disappointing to start off with high expectations for something thrilling that gets you glued to the screen but eventually you keep looking at your watch, when will things start to happen? Then, when will anything happen and it is a bit of a challenge to make out the ingenuous plot whether there is something spiritual going on or is it just some kind of hallucinations. Stay away from it unless you want to squander 80 minutes of your life.
