Well no Uwe Boll at least That is a guaranteed improvement over the 1st in this "series"Thankfully this one i not a Canadian production like the original was.. but it's bad... bad and more bad regardless of where it was filmed... The writing is virtually non-existent.. acting skill.. wait.. more like anti-skill. This was so beyond bad even the worlds best actors could never save it..it's worse than most "Made for TV" crappy B movies so often found being broadcast.. especially at strange times of the day (6am "scary movie time anyone?).. and AMC in their infinite stupidity actually aired this crap earlier today right after the original.. (see my insane review of that one once it's approved.. it's intentionally insane)I won't include spoilers here as I rarely do.. and there's simply nothing really to spoil with this movie.. it's horrible crap done on a budget so low I think the worlds cheapest dog food probably cost more per bag than they spent on production per day.Suffice to say it's garbage.. skip it.. save yourself the mental anguish.. and know that as bad as this is.. it's infinitely better than the original.. the fact UWE BOLL is not involved is a guarantee of that alone.. I never played the video games for either of these btw so I can't comment on the quality of the source per se there.. but given the stitched in bits in both films I suspect they are no better than the films of the same names..if you want to waste 2 hours or so of your life with no redeeming qualities at all skip this.. find a hallmark channel drivel movie.. it'll be better! This movie is more suited for use as a sadistic punishment by forcing the ppl needing to be punished to watch it.. and for those that are even more in need of punishment the original is in order! For the rest of us with any sanity.. stay away!! Far far away.. there is no lack of bad zombie flicks out there than are better than this even though they are bad as well. Now I've suffered through this and the original today.. I'm questioning my own sanity and I think my youngest son's idea of hitting his head on the hardwood floor might actually be preferable!Seriously.. I'll never get back the time wasted on these movies today.. but at least I can try to save some others from the pain and suffering I have endured in the name of IMDb!

This movie is awful. And not the fun kind of awful, it's just awful. The story is awful, the acting is awful, the dialog is awful, the editing is awful... the list goes on and on. Examples: At one point early on there is a scene where the actor is splattered with blood, then they switch angles and he's totally clean, then they switch angles again and he's splattered with blood again. This is the kind of quality you can pretty much expect throughout the entire movie. Towards the end the 2 main characters get locked in a room which requires a had scanner to get out of, but the girl who can open it is killed by zombies far away from the door, so they are stuck in there, all like, gee whiz, how ever will we get out... at which point the door suddenly opens and the girls arm and hand are hanging off the scanner, a bajillion feet from her actual body which is being eaten by zombies, and not sliding off the palm reader, because, you know, who needs gravity. They spend 45 minutes of the movie talking about how they only have 10 minutes left to get the blood they need before the govt blows up the school... as they drive back to the school to get the blood a second time, after they initially had only 15 minutes. They also decided it would be a great idea to strip off all their body armor (which barely covered anything to begin with) to fight their way through hundreds of zombies. They then actually got swarmed by zombies, but were never bitten, as the zombie actors flailed their arms around but never grabbed them, instead just kind of bumping and pushing into them. There's a scene where they "can't open" a flimsy wall grate from the side they are on, despite the screws being extremely visible in the shot, and after opening the grate from the other side, the girls have to climb up and out the grate, which is supposedly the only thing separating the 2 rooms, but the second girl (for horribly unconvincing dramatic effect) has her legs grabbed as she's trying to climb all the way through, but they switch the shot to her 2 teammates on "the other side" of the grate and she's nowhere to be seen, even though she should have half her body through the grate at that point. Instead, after the horrible fake kicking scene, you can actually see the male lead actor pulling her in from the floor of the other room instead of pulling her up and in if she were actually climbing into the higher level grate from below. Then there's the scene where the govt blows up the college with a missile, killing all the zombies, but the lead female actress who was still stuck in the building lived without so much as being singed. I guess that cheap fold out table with the paper cover that she was hiding under was made out of some real quality stuff. Unlike this movie.

I'm pretty surprised by the extremely low score this has here on IMDb. I remember when I tried to watch the first 'House of the Dead' and stopped it halfway through because it was just too damn awful. So a while ago when this first came out on DVD someone had told me that it was a lot better then the first one, I didn't get around to watching it until just then...on late night cable. The movie is pretty much tongue in cheek it doesn't take itself too seriously. Take for example the library scene. Because of this, all the plot holes, the illogical happenings throughout the movie can be forgiven, as it is purely light entertainment. The archetypal military characters, were done well and fitted the feel of this kind of zombie film. The chauvinistic bald lieutenant had a great performance (which separates it from most cheesy horrors), especially his rant at the end. The banter back and forwards especially the moments concerning the bald chauvinist, could've been taken from a film that would've been taken much more seriously by the general film going public. The hardcore dancing/Circle Pitting zombies will also make any metal head/hardcore fan laugh, at least a little.Again, because it was tongue in cheek and didn't take it self seriously. 7/10(reviewed after first viewing)

I just can't believe that a sequel to an absolute rubbish film would turn out to be so good. After watching the first crappy House of the Dead I thought this one will also be the same, I rented it because I couldn't find another movie that looks good. Uwe Boll did not direct it so I was saying to myself "It shouldn't be bad as the first one". The film was much better than I expected and I have only 2 words for the make-up effects; awesome & mind-blowing definitely the best make-up for any zombie film. The story is really good about a mad scientist in a university campus whose dream is to bring the dead back to life but the virus broke out after an experiment on a dead girl so it took only one zombie to spawn an army, the special forces are sent to find the patient zero which is the original zombie from where the infection started and create an antidote to stop the plague. This is the third video game movie I've liked the other two are Resident Evil & Resident Evil: Apocalypse. I've seen it twice in my 2-day hire although I usually watch rented films only once. Do not mistake that the sequel is crap just because the first one was, House of the Dead fans won't be disappointed. Thank goodness Uwe Boll did not direct it and thank you Mike Hurst!
