Prices aren't the only things being slashed at the local supermarket! Some heads are gonna roll when they see these amazing deals! Clean up on Aisle 9! Okay, that'll do.In Scott Spiegel's somewhat unassuming directorial debut, "Intruder," the night crew at a supermarket find themselves locked in with a mysterious madman on the prowl. Is it a jilted ex- boyfriend of one of the cashiers? A disgruntled customer who waited too long in line behind the old lady who paid in pocket change? The guy from the opening scene in "Cobra"? "Intruder" offers a little mystery to the proceedings, which can often feel like a paint-by-numbers slasher. Spiegel, who spent a considerable amount of time working with the "Evil Dead" crew of Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, et al brings some familiar faces along, as well as a few tricks up his sleeve. What "Intruder" may lack in originality, it delivers in physical humor, creative camera angles and some unbelievably over-the-top death scenes. Its cast is mostly unknown (featuring a few cameos here and there you may recognize) and yet perfectly capable. Really, the cast is likable and they add to the underdog charm of the film which, let's face it, was never meant for "classic" status.Fans of the genre will find many things to like about "Intruder" (which originally went by the much superior and much less generic title of "The Night Crew") and if you've seen enough slashers, you'll forgive its shortcomings for the amount of ingenuity the film works into its limited means. Just an all around pleasant stroll through the aisles of yesterday's slasher oeuvre, be sure to throw "Intruder" in the cart if you haven't already.Okay, one more: Tonight, the stock-boy will be the one being stalked! No? Okay, I'll leave

It's been really long time since, I seen this once, some of gore moment still stuck wit for years after the movie. The movie start of not great, really odd badly done fight scene, the fight scene was bad ,it funny and dose make sure of the movie look a little outdated now. Sooner then later, people are being killed by someone in the shop and the kills are best thing about this movie, I loved all the great awesome gory death scenes in this movie, very gory and do not eat while watching this. I did forget about the twist the movie, which was really well done, I don't think I have ever been shocked by same movie twice. Was just me, when one boys being dragged by the killer, screaming and acting like girl are far to funny to take serious, he sure had one the most gruesome kills in this movie. Great gory deaths in this movie and the movie flowed fell but some of it done seem a little out dated now! The acting was really good and some of bad acting is actually funny, so make movie even more enjoyable. 7 out of 10

Intruder (1989) * (out of 4) Scott Spiegel's cult classic slasher has a group of third shift workers at a supermarket coming under attack from a mysterious person who is slicing them up in a variety of ways. INTRUDER comes as a major disappointment and especially after hearing so many great things about the uncut version of the film. I sat down to watch this movie with high expectations but by the thirty-minute mark I was ready to turn the film off and viewing it didn't get any easier. After watching the film I went back and read some other reviews and it seems even the most positive ones said for people to just overlook the fact that nothing really happens for the first thirty-minutes or so. How do you overlook the first thirty-minutes when they're nothing but boredom? For a slasher movie this one here much hold the record for the amount of worthless dialogue that we're given. The film sets up a female cashier's ex-boyfriend as the psychopath and we get countless bits of dialogue about their relationship and countless other things that really don't add up to anything. The film painfully and slowly drags along until we finally get to the murders. These murders all take place in about a twenty-minute period and then we get to the climax where the killer stalks the last survivor. This entire chase sequence is as boring and poorly directed as the first half of the picture. Everything you've heard about INTRUDER in regards to its gore level is true. The gore effects are the only reason to sit through this thing and they're quite graphic in their uncut form and all the credit much go to Gregory Nicotero, Sean Rodgers, Robert Kurtzman and Howard Berger for their work. The saw through the side of a head is certainly the highlight. Performances are pretty much what you'd expect from a film like this but I'd say they're slightly better than normal. There are some "fun" roles given to the likes of Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell but these really never pay off in any way. INTRUDER was released at a time when the slasher genre was pretty much dead but I can see how gore-hounds kept this one alive due to the special effects. However, I'd recommend just fast forwarding through the rest of the flick as it's incredibly hard to sit through. There's no suspense, no laughs, nothing at all.

THE GREATEST American SLASHER FLICK EVER MADE! But don't take MY WORD for it - see it for yourself. Forget all your Michael Myers, Jasons or Freddies, this guy here eats all of these for breakfast!!! Perhaps due to a poor marketing strategy, this film isn't widely known to many people. But that doesn't mean a thing nowadays, as many of these gems are available to be watched online or downloaded over the internet.I am proud to own this GEM on DVD! The script was written and directed by Scott Spiegel, the co-writer of Evil Dead 2.Plot: A local late night supermarket is shutting up and the night shift are starting to restock the shelves ready for the next day.Just as the store is about to close Craig (David Byrnes), the former boyfriend of cashier Jennifer (Elizabeth Cox), appears and the two have an argument. Worried for her friend, Linda (Renee Estevez) presses her panic button and calls for help. Co owner Bill (Dan Hicks) appears and a fight ensues. Craig escapes onto the shop floor and the night crew set out to track him down whilst Jennifer calls the police. On discovering him there is another scuffle before they manage to eject Craig from the store, after which he disappears into the night. While the night crew are gathered the owners announce they are selling the store and the staff will soon be out of a job. The staff are assigned the task of marking down all the stock in preparation for the close.Craig makes telephone calls to the store, unnerving Jennifer. The police arrive but do little to help and just tell the group to be careful.Linda finishes her shift and takes some shopping out to her car but is stabbed by an unseen attacker. Bill spots someone trying the back door and goes out to investigate. He finds Craig watching Jennifer through the bathroom window. Craig clubs Bill over the head with a hammer.Back in the store an unseen assailant begins to stalk the workers and the store-owner and kills them one by one. The killer dismembers his victims, leaving body parts around the store.Realising that everyone seems to have vanished, Jennifer goes to investigate and discovers bodies in the storerooms. Terrified, she is attacked by the killer but manages to escape back onto the shop floor. Hearing someone at the door she attempts to attract their attention but they have gone when she gets there.Craig appears and grabs her but she stabs him with a meat hook. Craig slumps to the floor. Bill staggers in and says Craig had attacked him outside the store. He calls the police.Jennifer notices that Bill's hands are covered in blood and realizes he is the killer. Bill tells her that he could not let his partner sell the store so he killed him, and then just got carried away killing the others. Bill attacks Jennifer and chases her around the store. Jennifer is locked inside the building. A delivery man appears outside. Jennifer tries to get his attention but he is killed by Bill who had slipped outside.Bill reenters the building and stalks Jennifer again. Jennifer is grabbed by Craig who tells her he saw Bill killing Linda and climbed into the building through the bathroom window to save her. Bill appears and clubs Craig to the ground with a severed head whilst Jennifer flees.Crawling out the bathroom window Jennifer attempts to escape in her car but finds the body of Linda in there. Bill grabs her legs and pulls Jennifer under the car but she stabs him with the knife she had pulled from Linda. Jennifer heads to a phone booth to call the police where Bill reappears again and starts to smash the booth to get at her. Tipping the phone booth over he has Jennifer trapped when Craig appears and hacks him with a meat cleaver.Jennifer and Craig are standing in the car park over Bill's body when the police arrive and arrest them. Bill regains consciousness and shouts to the police that the pair had gone mad and killed everyone. The two are taken away protesting their innocence.Similar films: Dr. Giggles, The Ice Cream Man, The Mutilator, Bloody Moon, The Burning and Just Before Dawn.
